A Gardener's Journal...Block D...

The lady kneeling to do the weeding seemed to do it quickly...

unlike the corn in the vegetable patch which seemed to take ages!!!

There's quite a bit of paisley in this which I love...I'm using what I have...
but this week I bought a blue fat 1/4 and put a 2 and half by 3 and a half piece to the right of the vegies and DH noticed it was different to the others...
Now wondering...is it too different?

Here they are together...

And joined onto No Place Like Home...
I am loving doing this quilt and learning so much from Anni's patterns and learning all the time with them...she adds all the detail and tells you exactly what to do!!!
I think I will always have an 'Anni' pattern on the go!!!

Thanks Chooky for cracking the whip LOL!!!

GJ Quilt - can I have a B, D, E, F, I & borders & Completed Top

OK so it was back in February that I last posted about my GJ quilt...but here it is.... finally! It has been a very slow and long process, but I did bite of more than I could chew, last year and this year. Working on my Gingham Girls Quilt, joining in 2 quilts for Christchurch NZ and finishing off 6 Quilts for Queensland, another Quilt for a friend who lost everything in the Victorian Floods, and various other sewing projects.

But with gentle nudging from Chooky the last couple of weeks, during our emailing, I have finally put it all together. The stitcheries have been laying there just waiting now for the last 2 months. So I am very impressed that it has only taken one long weekend Monday to put it all together.

Block I

and here she is with the borders. Still not too keen on the green one, but it was with DS's opinion as the red I thought I had seems to not be where it should have been and I was not putting off completing it all on Monday.

Even have pressed the backing and made the binding, Mum is visiting later today, so with her help I hope to get it pinned and the quilting can begin!!!! I still have my Life is Beautiful Quilt on the go and my Vignette Hexagon Quilt as well. So apart from joining in on some projects from the SKOW book, I have decided not join the quilt along this time around! But I will share my projects from the book if I am allowed (wink)
Thanks for all the encouragement to keep at it through some very trying times in my family life. Hope to share some quilting with you soon.

The slack one is just about there……..

IMG_5978

It has been a very long time since I have made a post….I sort of lost the plot with GJ..

But I have been watching everyone’s progress…and congratulations…WOW…the finished quilts are awesome….

I set myself a goal two weeks ago…to have my quilt completed before GDITC..(12 months ago Chooky, Dale and I decided we would try and complete these quilts for show and tell)….Well Dale finished hers ages ago..Chooky has a finish (is the bind done Chooky)….and I was the slack one..anyway on the weekend I did finish my top…it has been quilted….the bind is on…and I have about 12 inches to sew down on that, so tonight my quilt will be finished……and I have three days to spare….LOL…….

D and H finished, yes I'm way behind!

I haven't dropped off the face of the earth, I've been working on my Gardener's Journal in between my other committments now I can mark off blocks D and H as complete.
It's very inspiring seeing all these quilts tops being completed and even quilted. I won't give up, I have to have it finished before I start Tis the Season!

Chookyblue's progress.........

ok so I am being hassled and questioned by Helen and Bec.................(I told them to keep kicking my butt along)...........but between the hassling and the huge boost of motivation with all the posts this year and seeing so many blocks coming together and tops coming together and talk of quilting I  have been busy stitching.........
Anni these cobs of corn were nearly my demise..........how long does it take to finish 3 cobs of corn.............I had put it off and off and off again............but today finally I got it finished, washed and pieced together...........

BLOCK D done
Watch out for more progress VERY VERY soon...........
Catch you later..............

Lots of Blocks for Bec!

This is my LAST stitchery for GJ! I am so excited (and impatient) for it to be almost finished!
I had three blocks finished earlier in the year then I fractured my foot and then worked on stitcheries while I was laid up but didn't piece any blocks together. The other day, just after christmas, I spent half a day piecing all the blocks and was just busting to get the borders on! But I have to get this last stitchery done first.
Sometimes it seemed like I had a mountain of stitchery to complete, and lots of piecing when I able but it is coming together quickly now and I hope to blog a flimsy within the week.....fingers crossed!
love Bec xxx
PS the quilts are looking fantastic!

Block D Finished

I know I am behind but I aim to catch up quickly!!   I have stitched lots of the squares but have not assembled the blocks as yet as the end of the year became fairly hectic!!   Yesterday I assembled block D and was really happy with how it turned out!

Then .... it was all excitement as I stitched blocks D and C together!   I'm really pleased with how the quilt is coming together and very inspired by all the finished tops on display already!   Hope to have another block or two assembled today!   This is really how a New Year should start - lots of sewing time!!

Better late than never

At last my block for August is done, I've had the stitcheries done  for a while but the fairies just wouldn't come and put the block together so I had to do it myself. Its great to see all the blocks coming along and I guess we can see the end isn't toooooo far away so keep up the good work girls.,

Five days late, not that bad!!!

Finally finished Block D.  August was a very slow month for stitching and it feels like it took forever to stitch these two stitcheries.  Here it is.

And then I looked at the block setting and put two blocks together.

It's so exciting to be able to put a couple blocks together.  I have the stitcheries traced and off to stitch for the next block!  Happy stitching to all!!!

D is Done & Dusted...

Ta Dah!  Presenting...drum roll please.....Block "D"!!!...

...not only within the specified month but before the month ran out of days....it's an August miracle!! (ha ha ha)

I don't know if I'm just getting used to reading Anni's instructions for putting the blocks together or if this was one was particularly easy but it went together like a dream...no unsewing...no what the?...nothing...just sew and iron...easy peasy...hope the rest of the blocks have taken notes from this one on how to behave!

Catching up on the posts for the past week this morning, awesome going ladies...so motivating to see everyone's work...

Happy stitching...

Greetings from Finland

Hey there!
I just noticed there is lot of stitchings in September.
So I took 'a false start' with block F.

BUT BEFORE THAT...

TA-DAA!!!
I finished block D;)

I also realised that I'm over the half way now!
Five blocks done, four left.
IT feels soooo good;)))

I'm surprised how quick and easy I have made them.
BUT I'm quite sure,
not without you,
Chookyblue and all the other SAL -girls!

KIITOS KAIKESTA! - THANK YOU EVER SO MUCH!

BLOCK D is almost a picture of me!

I have been away for a while but my garden has been very busy growing weeds.
The summer has been good and warm here in Denmark and everything has been growing very well, so I have been down on my knees as the lady on the stitchery.
Before we went for the trip with our caravan I made the stitchery for the August block and now it is finished.
So many of you have made so beautiful blocks while I was away and I enjoy reading all the posts.
I also made the stitchery for the next block, so maybe it will soon be sewed together; I always like to be a little ahead of Chookyblues schedule.

August's block D finished

In the rush of packing and getting organised I needed to find time to blog about August's block. As I will be away from now on I worked on this one in July. Here it is.
And here are two of them sewn together. It is starting to look like a quilt.
