Quilt Top!

or very close to a completed quilt top. I just have the strips to sew to the top and bottom and will have it done by the end of the night!

It really is hard to get a good pic...so I placed it on my bed as it's outgrown my design wall. I had intentions of hanging it in a room I am in the process of making over...but it does seem to look quite good where it is!
I am going to start quilting on the weekend, so I will be back to share when it's all quilted!!

Bye For Now!

Nearly there

Have completed all my patchwork joining sections. These needed to be made as I went with using fabric mainly out of my stash.  Only three more blocks to go and some of these are part way finished too.

Instead of butterfly block I`ve added this little church as we enjoy our Sunday fellowshiping and helping when needed at our  friendly church. Lots happen on these mornings and it`s nice to catch up with what has been happening in our community during the week.

I moved the sunshine block up and the bird block down as sunshine block background  looked balanced by moving it. Quite happy with the placement of blocks with sashing panels now.

Today is rather wet so would be nice to see a little sunshine. Maybe tomorrow but the forcast for the end of the week is the same as today. Nice that God is watering the gardens for us and the ducks will be happy.

Here we have my concept of a Pukeko with my fabrics of my quilt. Their feathers are much brighter than this. They roam around quite often near the roads. In the mornings on fine days we have Tuis singing for us. Our national bird is the Kiwi.
Nice to be able to show how this quilt tops coming along. Love reading the comments as feel my friends are coming to visit.
Happy Stitching,
Clare.

My Last Block - finally

It seems this block has been holding me up for a bit - but it's done now.

(If you were ever curious about whether or not you can take the metal bit of a real tape measure and bend it back into shape so it sits flat again - no you can't!!)

Now I just have to add the rest of the strips and - quilt it.  Still thinking about that bit. . .

Happy sewing everyone.

4 ROWS TOGETHER

I have now sewed the first four rows together and I am ready to finish it as long as there are no more interuptions. I have started the Bird and Sun block as I am not sure that I want butterflies on my quilt so will think about what to replace it with.

The photo is not the best and Hubby was not around when i needed him to take the photo with his big  camera.i think it is looking pretty good.

After cutting my first dog (cat ) block wrong I have  made another and I prefer this one better so perhaps it was meant to be. Now off to cook some dinner and then to finish some more blocks.
Bye for now Jude from judesstuff.

I MUST be crazy.........

Ok, so I am way way behind in my SKoW SAL.  But, I have decided to hand piece the 1 1/2" squares together........am I crazy..

no need to answer that........I know the answer already.......

Surprisingly, they are rather quick to do........I've almost completed them....I did do a little at Urban Stitches the other day which was fantastic!!

I really enjoying sewing these of an evening when the kids are in bed, I find it very relaxing....hopefully I make the deadline.

Happy Stitching,
Susie

Quilt Top Finish

I'm happy to say that after attending Urban Stitches in Melbourne over the weekend, I came home inspired to finish off my quilt (before I start something else)!!   I put this together on Sunday afternoon but it was too dark to take photos so have waited until this afternoon to have some good light .....  I changed the chair block to "baskets of flowers" ....

I love birdsong in the morning (as long as it's not too early) ....

Here is the last row on the floor ready to attach to the rest of the quilt ....

On my way outside, I threw it on a bed to see if it fit queen size ..... tick ....

And then hung it on the fence to try and get the whole picture in .... so now it's off to the quilter for me!   Thanks for all the inspiration everyone .... keep stitching .... you'll love the end result !!  Thanks again Chooky for all your organisation ... we couldn't do it without you !!   ........ GETTING THERE

Its been a while since I had time to do some of the stitch a long as I had other commitments.

Here is the friends block and it is one I really liked doing.

The shoe block for me became a pair of comfy slippers block as I  dont wear high heels and I am pleased with how it has turned out, my dear friend Dawn designed it for me so thankyou Dawn.
I also did the cat block but as a dog  and then I cut it wrong so now I am off to do it again. and I hope to have the whole row together by the weekend.

Tis the Season

I have been very slack, but I am back and intend to stay. Since becoming addicted to stitching again I have been working through my UFO pile and Gardener's Journal is the latest plastic tub to come out from under the bed.
So, I solemnly swear to complete this quilt as quickly as possible!!
And seeing I have just purchased the Tis the Season pattern and am very keen to start it, I will be stitching fast!!

This top is done.....

These are my blocks for July .....

I have got a little bit ahead and done my blocks for August  ....

and put them all together

All of you StitchALong ladies are so encouraging - thank you
it's a great way to make a quilt

5 in 5...a mini challenge!

Hi girls...Happy Friday to you all!

I came to the startling realisation this morning that today is the 20th of July...the 20th!! I'm not sure where the month has gone, but one thing I DO know for sure...I'm a bit behind with  my SKoW stitching!

Know the feeling?

So I set myself a little challenge, and thought some of you girls might want to join me :)
Since the blocks for this quilt are quite small (well, mostly), I've challenged myself to complete 5 of them in the next 5 days.

I plan to do the July blocks and a couple of the August blocks, but you could start anywhere really! I spent the afternoon yesterday preparing the blocks and stitched the first one while watching a movie last night...too easy! The cool nights are perfect weather for stitching ;)

What do you say? Anyone up for the challenge?

Some Kind of Wonderful Update

I have been working away on my SKOW but took a break to finish a quilt for my son’s 16th birthday. Now it’s finished I will attempt to get my top together asap. Check out my blog to see the finished quilt.
http://mollys-meanderings.blogspot.com.au/2012/07/birthday-pressies.html

caravanshoes
I decided to replace the rainbow block with a vintage caravan.  I love rainbows but only in the sky, copies just don’t grab me. Dd Emma sketched my spoodle Molly in the caravan window, so cute.

I’m not a shoe person, flat feet just don’t lend themselves to pretty shoes, but I couldn’t resist these pretty polka-dot shoes.

catheart
My cat is still a wip.

friendschair

I need to choose hair colour for myself & my friend.
I decided to add some cushions to my chair. :-)

sewinghouse row

I also decided to change the sewing block slightly & added 2 quilts hanging on the line. They are little cheater cloth quilts. My pincushion became a cupcake pincushion because I stuffed up the writing on the original, lol.

My house row will be complete when I finish & add the caravan block.

I’ve also made the top & bottom rows of strips so I’m getting there!!!

SKOW Row 5

My fifth and final row is now complete.....
Now I had better get cracking on all those collumns!!!!!
These pics were taken at night so are not the best....
You can get a bit of an idea of how things are looking...
Until next time, Happy Stitching

Finally a bit more done of my SKOW

I have finally put the last 2 stitcheries on and hopefully by the weekend i will have the side strips on.cheers shez xx

February Finished....and July and August

I have had a very productive afternoon and evening yesterday on my SKOW quilt.  All the small patchwork panels are completed and the long panels completed as much as I can.  I can’t put off those pesky petals any longer.

So here is what I have to show.

February’s panels are now attached and the last column is completed with its sashings.

I just need to complete the stitching block and the tree with the pesky petals and insert them in their columns, which are otherwise finished.

When I was cutting my small coloured squares I came across a zip lock bag with some small “Scraps” in it.  A couple were big enough to cut a square out of, so I did.  I now realise they were the pieces for the little patchwork panels on the stitching block….Oops.  I’ll have to cut some more.

I now feel quite confident that I will be finished on time.
