And here it is added on to the other Blocks...only 2 to go!!!

The slack one is just about there……..

It has been a very long time since I have made a post….I sort of lost the plot with GJ..

But I have been watching everyone’s progress…and congratulations…WOW…the finished quilts are awesome….

I set myself a goal two weeks ago…to have my quilt completed before GDITC..(12 months ago Chooky, Dale and I decided we would try and complete these quilts for show and tell)….Well Dale finished hers ages ago..Chooky has a finish (is the bind done Chooky)….and I was the slack one..anyway on the weekend I did finish my top…it has been quilted….the bind is on…and I have about 12 inches to sew down on that, so tonight my quilt will be finished……and I have three days to spare….LOL…….

Well with inspiration striking and a realisation that I actually only have 5 more stitcheries to do the end is in site...well the stitching end...not the end of sewing those god damn 11/2 inch squares..LOL gost there are so many!!!

so here are todays shares - as I had a day at home, with a nightshift worker that needed some sleep, I snuck into my sewing room and sat in the quiet just humming and sewing....

So needless to say Can I have a G, C and an H please!!!!

Block G - half done

Well I spent all morning cutting my material for the GJ.  Once that was done, I thought I should piece G block so that I can stitch it.  I have all the floss that the book calls for but I am still unsure if I want to do that are just use one call through out...

Upon my cutting I realized that the fabric is not Fat Quarter but Fat Eights....  So out come some more fabric.

Now for the reveal of my Block G

Well I hope Im not to late to start.  I think I have started.  Not sure on the thread colours yet.  Might need to change them to go with the fabric I have.

A Collage of my First Two Blocks!!

Whilst fiddling about and seeing how my colours looked together, I made a collage of photos of my first two completed blocks! I spent a couple of hours at the Sydney Craft & Quilt Show on Saturday and was terribly inspired by the beautiful quilts on display! Now on to block 3!!!
I have to say also how great it is to see everyone finishing off their blocks and blogging about them so constantly! It makes us want to keep up (even when it is sometimes hard to fit everything in to our busy days) and I'm really looking forward to seeing the end result for eveyone! It really is wonderful to see all the finished projects and everyone has used such different colours and schemes for their blocks, so they should all look very individual when sewn together! Pleased to see we made 100 for this weekend .... that should keep Miss Chooky very happy!!

At last I have my first block complete - hopefully it won't take as long for the next one. Have falled behind your girls, but hope to catch up now.

Seems like so long since I first posted here, so much has happened but I have finally got my act together and got my fabric cut up and sorted into block bags.

This is April's block finished. May's is almost there. June's isn't started!

I am sure I will have the quilt finished before March next year though.

All the blocks are looking lovely, such a beautiful quilt and even better that it looks so fantastic in all the different colour/fabric combinations!

I see on the side bar that Andrea, Fiona and Margaret are stitching away busily, well done!

Oh Sew Busy

My Block G and A

It Thursday afternoon, I’m half way through my day off and about sit down to watch Days of Our Lives (haven’t seen an episode for years) while I stitch block C. Before I toddle off to do that I thought I would show you my blocks G and A, which have been finished for sometime but this is the first chance I’ve had to show you. I never ceases to amaze me how one quilt can look so different! Everyone is doing an amazing job.

My First Block Finished

Finally my first block G is sewn together! I was waiting for the lovely Yuwa fabric so I could incorporate some into each block and it finally arrived last week! I have stitched in a maroon thread DMC 221 and wanted to incorporate some red fabrics into my quilt - and this is the finished result! My second block is nearly stitched together too! So now I am almost up to date!

Wahoo!!!!  Finally...I've caught up...to April!!!!  Presenting...Block G...

Onwards to Block A...mmm, I don't like my chances of getting all the stitcheries done and the block pieced by Monday but maybe by the end of June I'll be closer to achieving the timeframes for the Plan of Action...oh well, it won't happen overnight but it will happen....

Loving everyone else's blocks...and all the different variations in colour/fabric choices.

The Garden is Watered...

...both stitcheries for Block G done - yay!  Now to construct the block....at this rate there is a chance that I'll get April's block finished before the end of May!

Seeing all those lovely finished blocks sure is a good motivator...makes me want to see how my fabrics are going to look.

This morning's task before going to sewing group and work is to cut out the fabrics...I wasn't sure how to proceed as I want to do all the cutting in one go but I have more than the 10 fabrics specified in the book and could not decide which ones to use - it takes me longer to make decisions about what than it does to actually construct at times.  Yesterday I had a light bulb moment...add up the number of patches that are needed in total and just start cutting from all my fabrics until I have that number and go with the less controlled and scrappy, albeit all from the same range, approach.  Right, off this computer and into the sewing room!

Better late than never..........

Here is my first block finally completed, and I'm pretty pleased with it.  I spent yesterday afternoon cutting all of the fabric out, and a lovely Mothers Day morning this morning putting Block G together.

You might have noticed I left out the drops/grass in the foreground of the Watering the Garden stitchery.  The stitch guide listed no grass instructions so I thought they must have been splashes of water, but the photo in the book had them green like grass.  In the end I decided to leave them out, and it looks a little less busy now.  Now I will try hard to keep up with "The Plan" - if it wasn't for this Stitch A Long, my book and fabric would still be languishing in a cupboard, probably never to be seen again!  So thanks ChookyBlue and all of the other stitchers for inspiring us all to get this lovely quilt underway.  I know I am really enjoying working on mine and seeing everyones creations.

G Block.......Finished

I can't believe that I have finished this block and today is only May 3rd. I only joined the group a couple of weeks ago. I had a little problem. My stitchery was not the correct size so I had to do some patching. I thought, at first that it was because I had cut it too short, although I cut on the line. But after looking at the pattern in the book, I realized that somewhere in the transfer of the page to email to copier, the shape changed. See, I'd gotten the patterns over the line from Chooky Blue. Regardless, it doesn't interfere with the look of the finished block. I do wish we had the dimensions for the blocks so I'd know if my measurements are correct. I did a little squaring up but was afraid to do too much.

I've transferred the pattern for the potting shed and weather vane so I can begin to stitch on them. I think they'll be easier since they are a little bigger with more straight lines. Oh, and this time, I used a ruler when drawing to make my lines straighter. My fence in the first block is very crooked. I am pretending it is a wire fence. Ha!

Just made it........

.....by a whisker!



I haven't followed the setting for the blocks exactly. Because I'm using a jelly roll and a layer cake I've cut some of them differently. Also, this gorgeous fabric, Avignon, has some beautiful border type fabric that looks fabulous. I wanted to use them as they were, without cutting them into shorter blocks. The finished block size is the same, so it's not going to make a difference to the size of the quilt at the end.

I also cut all the pieces for the rest of the blocks and traced all the stitchery blocks this month too, so a little less to fuss about in May. Hopefully, I can get into the next block next week and be ahead for a change???

I'm loving seeing so many different colours and fabrics for this, some amazing blocks on here.........

 It's not perfect, but later I can always make minor adjustments! I wanted to fulfill the plan of attack of Chokyblue!

Almost finished :)))Whe whave only 5 days to ding!!!I started cutting the 32 smaller squares ...

After many cuts came another study ...

Than, I went to sewing machine ...

Dharma and Malibu, patientely observed what I was doing :)

Because  I 'm inexperienced, I didn't yet  finished the block G :(

But I started stitching the bugs and the weather vine to bolck A!
