August is Almost Done

Excellent work everyone - thanks!!!

Tally is now 25 girls ticked off the list....

On the east coast of Australia we have a few hours left
but it's still August for a lot longer elsewhere!!!
Still plenty of time.

August - still coming....but a share

OK well, it's not a complete from this year....but it is two completed versions of this months project, mine from this month is still coming.

I completed 2 of these wonderful bags back in December 2011, as gifts, one for my mum and one for myself...always  love giving myself a gift.

I completed them for our little travel irons complete will little ironing mats inside...mum loved hers.

Ok, so here is a sneak of the fabric, that I am making this bag from, I designed that little birdy love nest and printed in a screen printing class yesterday - more images to come of my work on my blog....this is going to be a special little bag for my god-daughter, whom I am going to visit in 3 weeks, (Note chooky the chookshed is going to get a visit)

August is done....

.... in the nick of time. I nearly took a pass but figured i'd give it a go. I doubt i'll ever make another one. :)
I pieced the front but not the back
found this fabric in my stash that matched the homespun sides well enough.

Happy Stitching,

Sewing Case

Hello my friends.
I challenged myself with a piece of fabric that I purchased quite a few years ago.
I found this in the bottom of a draw quite forgotten.
I fussy cut so now it looks like Swiss cheese.
I stitched stitchery with DMC 221.
These where photographed at night time so a bit more lemon than it should be.
The front.

My lining was the fabric that was in the draw and sorted the other fabrics from.
I added a elastic gathered pocket in the top part.

Showing the fussy cut squares in the back.
The greens and blues have gone a little dark in the photos.
I threaded a piece of red ribbon the same colour as stitching for a puller on the zip.

Now to place the items that I need for the next project.
I`m off to use my light box to trace next months
needle book stitchery and sort colours.
Happy Stitching,
Clare.

August project

I have completed my project

Hard to believe that we only have one more month left.

Thanks

Sandyn

In time!!!

Hi Ladies,

It was a difficult month. My grandmother died the 10 th of august
a week after her 90 th birthday. My parents where in France and
had to come home 2 days later. I had to arrange the funeral with
my aunt and uncle, because my parents weren't in the country.
I never knew that arranging a funeral was so much work. A week
later we had the funeral. It was difficult.
Meanwhile, I had to make a quilttop for the shop where I work.
I finished it a few days ago. It's handpieced.

Tuesday evening, I made the stitchery for the sewing bag and
yesterday, I finished the bag!!!

After I took the pictures, I saw that I forgot the handles :-)

                                    Have  a nice day!!!
                                           Martine

What's the problem?

Another three days left of August and I'm already one ...

Love this bag and wonder why I didn't make it until someone else decided for me. Thanks Chooky :-)

Think I'll have to do another one some day.

A SURPRISE FOR CHOOKYBLUE!!!

First I have been a bad girl for not keeping up with this year's monthly challenge--sorry!!
BUT--look at this finish--
Last year's SKOW is now finished--
all rows together and the hand quilting is all done--
and the binding is all on--
and I just love it--
Thank you Chookyblue
hugs, di and miss gracie
Yes--even miss gracie has tried it out and loves it!!!

Great Work!

We have seen a flurry of activity on the blog this week - going great guns girls!

Some absolutely gorgeous bags - lovely different colours and variations.

Is it the threat of "The Whip"???

Still 3 days (Australian time) to go. . . . . . .

I have updated the sidebar - hopefully it's correct - if not - drop me a line - but be nice - I am still on "L" plates!!!

At last....

I finally finished and happy with result! On to the next.....

August Sewing Bag

I have finished our project for August - now I love the bag, but am not a fan of zips, so it was a challange for me.
Now you will be thinking I was a bit slack in not putting those small squares and stitcheries together for the front of the bag, but there was a reason -
I wanted it to match another sewing bag.  Cheryl

August done - Yay !!!

This is such a cute little sewing case, and I am very happy with how it looks.  The lining fabric worked well too.

If I make another one I will do a few things differently - and I will also read the pattern fully without distractions but at least the things I misread still turned out well in the end.

The best thing is there are still a few days to go before end of month - I did wonder if I would be a bit late this time with all the other things going on, but so pleased to have met the deadline.

Just in time

Here is my Sewing Case for August. Still lovely weather in my part of Norway.

August Greetings from Finland!

I can't believe this is our next to last project together...
and I can't believe that I have done all SAL 2013 projects;o)
... so far...

And one thing, which makes me smile even more...
I have been able to add HEXAGONS almost in every projects ;oD

I "cheated" little with the stitcheries... I stitched only one of the patches of the bag front, because I wanted to use those sewing themed fabrics.

I surely hope that Chookyblue (& her assistant whip cracker) has enough time and strength to continue our inspiring SAL -group also in the next year!

I have DEEPLY ENJOYED EVERY MOMENT with YOU...
see you in next month!!!

with hugs Satu

August - tick!!!

Another wonderful project this month.... thanks Chooky.
This was a great little project and I'm really happy with the way it turned out. Perfect size for all my sewing bits and pieces.

Pass please

I have been working on costumes for the school production for the last fortnight and they STILL aren't finished. I need to get them done this week as we are going to Hobart on Friday for work and I am not able to stitch in the car, so I am afraid that at this point of time I can't see me getting August's lovely bag completed until next month. Sorry :((

EarLy BirD

Just getting in nice and early for September... yes you read it correctly SePTemBeR!
I may have missed August but I made my item for September.
No more "P"'s for this little chicadee...

August Sewing Bag Complete

Here is my sewing bag, I used gold thread to sew the stitchery, I bought this thread when my daughter was a baby, from a shop in Cairns, that was closing, thirty years ago!

Had trouble placing the plastic base in :-(, but peravered, and finished it last night :-)

Pin Cushion Finished

Finally my pin cushion is finished...after several failed attempts at small applique, I decided to just stitch it and be done...you can now mark me off for the June pin cushion Chooky...
now off to finish catching up...

Sewing Case - Tick

Last weekend I spent some quality time with my sewing machine and I managed to complete my August project for the SAL.
I unfortunately wasn't able to get any template plastic here in the town where I live and by Saturday night I was sooo closed to being finished.
I often travel with my job, so whilst I was in the small town of Wellington in NSW I popped into the little fabric shop and luckily they had just what I needed.

I really enjoyed making this months project, however I did struggle putting the template plastic in.
I just couldn't seem to get my fabric to stick to the template plastic no matter how hard I tried.

Until Next Time
Happy Stitching

July Bag

I am late, but better late than never so they say:) once the stitchery and hexagons are completed, the bag comes together very quickly! Now to start August!

Bye For Now
Lisa

August's Project

I confess, I cheated, I made this bag
last year and use it everyday
but I did make it.

the Front

the back

inside holds all my must have's for needleturn appliqué,
pencils, pins, cotton, needles, tissue's

I will catch up with the other projects, once life has
settled back down here, still very much  a question
of how long, but no one can answer that for us except God

It's upside down!!!!!

I try to do everything by the rules... but sometimes the rules is a little bit to much...
see ....

Then i was ashamed because i will be the only one to put the drawings up side down|!
but i thought (sometimes i do!) but if i have the sewing case  on a table the drawings will be ok
And if no one else like it , I do!
