Bec's Quilt Finished

My Gardeners Journal quilt is finished and I am so pleased!
If it wasn't for the Stitch-a-Long this quilt would still be sitting in a box shoved up the back of the cupboard.
Many Thanks to Dale, Peg and Chooky for starting this.
Many Thanks to Chooky for organising us and running the blog.
Many Thanks to everyone involved for the encouragement and inspiration.
It has been more than fantastic to see work on all the quilts, so many and so varied!
I won't be joining in with the next stitch-a-long project as I have a number of other UFOs to work on, but will be watching; it is a lovely quilt.

Bec's Update

It's Sunday today and I am stitching on GJ. I finished "I" block yesterday and I have the inner border on the quilt top, this afternoon should see the outer border added too.
A few of us stitch-a-long girls will be taking our quilts/quilt tops to GDITC this March at Nundle. Anita wrote in our email loop that she doesn't think she will get hers done and is feeling bad about letting the team down. I wrote a reply and Fiona thought I should post it here, as it applys to everyone who is in need of encouragment.
Hey Anita,

Though your quilt won't be finished for GDITC 2011, I am SURE you are alot further along with it than you were this time last year! I don't think you have let the team down, my understanding of the stitch-a-long is for companionship and encouragement whilst working on the same stitching project.

I know I had mine sitting in a box for over a year with me procrastinating about starting it, (oh gosh a lot of work so I will leave that quilt for now! LOL). After GDITC 2010 I had a passing thought about starting/completing the quilt but again decided too much work and too much else on. THEN I got the email from Chooky/Peg/Dale about what they were going to do. Working on one bit a month seemed like not so much of a mountain to stitch. My top is almost done (all things going well the borders will go on today) BUT to be totally honest; if I hadn't fractured my foot earlier in the and spent 8 wks sitting stitching my quilt would not be so far along as it is.
So Anita, DON'T FEEL BAD - feel fantastic for what you HAVE achieved! It is a beautiful quilt and there IS alot of work in it, you will complete it one day and in the meantime we will love to see what you have done at GDITC 2011.

Oh, and Kylie's GJ won't be finished either. She has had a big year with moving house and is happily looking forward to working on GJ this year, your defiantely not alone!

love Bec xxx
I hope I haven't been out of place posting this here.
PS It's also nice to hear of fires being lit, in other words stitchers focusing on GJ and achieving lots! Go Girls! The quilts are coming along fantastically!

Lots of Blocks for Bec!

This is my LAST stitchery for GJ! I am so excited (and impatient) for it to be almost finished!
I had three blocks finished earlier in the year then I fractured my foot and then worked on stitcheries while I was laid up but didn't piece any blocks together. The other day, just after christmas, I spent half a day piecing all the blocks and was just busting to get the borders on! But I have to get this last stitchery done first.
Sometimes it seemed like I had a mountain of stitchery to complete, and lots of piecing when I able but it is coming together quickly now and I hope to blog a flimsy within the week.....fingers crossed!

PS the quilts are looking fantastic!

Bec's Stitching

While I have been resting with my fractured foot I have been stitching my blocks for GJ. I have three more left to stitch then I should be able to piece the blocks together. I haven't been able to piece the blocks together since my fall because it means getting up and down between the sewing machine and the iron; not an easy thing when your foot is meant to be kept up!
Excuse the not so good photo's, the camera isn't working so great at the moment.

Bec's blocks A and H

Block H is finished.
Finally I have some more stitching to show! It seems Ihave been working on too many things here and there with not much to share but am so pleased to have TWO blocks together now, that makes three in total for me now and I am currently working on the house.
I liked the little seed packets, they were quick and easy; and so cute!

Block A. This one has been ALMOST finished for SO LONG, the but that was hard to finish was the table and tree in the Potting Shed block...for some reason it was dificult to pick up and finish; but is done now!

Excuse my pictures as something isn't right with the camera at present.

G for Bec

Seems like so long since I first posted here, so much has happened but I have finally got my act together and got my fabric cut up and sorted into block bags.
This is April's block finished. May's is almost there. June's isn't started!
I am sure I will have the quilt finished before March next year though.
All the blocks are looking lovely, such a beautiful quilt and even better that it looks so fantastic in all the different colour/fabric combinations!
I see on the side bar that Andrea, Fiona and Margaret are stitching away busily, well done!

Bec

I'm afraid that I am not going to get my block together this month; I have the stitcheries done for April and almost done for May but have to sort and finish cutting my fabrics for the piecing.
Am having a crisis time here and won't be online for at least a week. Bec - OhSewBusy

Bec's Gardner's Journal

As you can see I have had my Gardner's Journal kit stored for sometime. It is partially cut out with no stitcheries stitched or even traced; looking very sad and unloved indeed! So I was very pleased to see Chookyblue's post about her, Peg and Dale getting to work on this beautiful quilt; it deserves to be made, not to sit in the box! LOL
I shall get my box emptied and sorted over the next week, ready to start. I'm very excited about this, and it has actually prompted another project but that one will have to remain secret for a while yet....
