Almost there

After seeing Maria's post today, I'd thought I'd try and inspire those like me that are almost there. I'm on the last 2 borders, I'm loving the dimples I'm creating in my hand quilting. I'm working a little every night. My poor Lucy Boston is very jealous.

Back to quilting.....

My top is off to be basted.

So after deciding on that extra border making it a queen-sized quilt, I realised that basting is the only thing I really hate about quilting.... I just detest it, and such a large quilt was so daunting.

After seeing a machine basted Lucy Boston at my sewing group last week... I didn't even know this was a thing. I've just dropped my baby off at the quilters.....to be basted.

So I am another step closer....

SAL - Natures Journey a progress report

Can I please have a double JJ added to my J,F,M,A & M

my progress may have been slow, but I really pulled out the stops this last month and have managed to get June and July complete and even had August ready to go before September came. 

June Part 5 big-leaves, acorn, flower, 2xpieced blocks +4small 2xhearts, 2xladybugs

July Part 6 centre appliqué

August Part 7 2 borders with the little squares appliquéd on - well, they are all cut out, preparation is the key they say. That and my love for ziplock bags. I am progressing slowly, so I am now only 1 month behind.... fingers crossed I can catch up before September is done.

September Part 8 last section and into a top and quilted - there is still hope, with a weekend away coming up in Bathurst it may just happen.

Best of intentions

Oops, I had put pressure on myself, felt the whippings, and rushed out of the gates this month looking for a double J. 

But alas with a huge market month, that's including the Ag Expo in Nyngan this coming weekend my sewing hours have been consumed with stock - so I'm prepped but not completed 

Just check out some of this, my fingers are cramping I tell you.

Natures Journey - April Complete

I can now claim that February, March and April blocks are complete....so hopefully Chooky will grant me a F, M & A beside my name

and May and June will be soon to follow.

Catching up and working hard

I am a bit behind, even after a wonderful catch up with Chooky in April, who was whip cracking. My life has been taken over by my health. Knee pain has resulted in finding out that I need double knee replacement so for the past three weeks and the next five weeks I'm undergoing Prehab intensive muscle development, 3 hours a day of combined physio and hydrotherapy. So on Tuesday this week I needed a well deserved rest day and dragged out my box and sorted myself out..  Zip log bags became my friend, so I hope now I'll catch up - april is almost done

Almost an M, NOPE it's an M

I'm on my last block, and I'm loving it.

Have you all noticed how pointy this months blocks are. Well I've been struggling. With fray, and awkward points.

I decided to move on to the curvier pieces. And the points were getting better.

But after last nights sewing group tip, of using a toothpick. WOW, those little points are losing and I'm winning. After posting on Instagram and Facebook, a few people asked for a video tutorial, my friend Wendy, found a blog step-by-step, hope it helps.

So I decided, well my body decided that it was over the no pain no gain, and it needs a rest and recovery day. I do have Forever Always stitching to do, but that one last point was calling me to finish it. So I did! So please can I have an M?

Ok I may be slow on blog posting, but I've been using this photo as my prompting with my stitching and it's keeping me motivated.

January, pattern, shopping and February prepped.

I was sure I had posted these photos back in mid January when I took off on my holiday, but perhaps I didn't. I got in and prepped January's stitchery. And I was lucky enough to have my pattern arrive before I left as well. 

With my main fabrics taken from my drawer of saving for a special project. I've decided on 2 Riley Blake designs and I'm still not sure about the little moda roll. 

Once in Melbourne the stitching and the shopping for backgrounds began, after about 7 different shops. Yes Chooky I shopped well for all these luscious backgrounds.

I then finished my January stitching. I'm thinking it will be a runner, but saving that completion for another day. I squeezed in a couple of runners as well, teaching a friend how to quilt and bind.

Just a days shopping...this was Milrose cottage in. Ballan Victoria. What an amazing place

And then there was today's, rest and recovery, I've come home from my holiday 2 days ago and spent the best part of it resting from flu like symptoms, today, I've watched 2 movies and managed to apliquick all my January prices ready for a sewing night next week. Feeling accomplished.

Ready set go, on holidays

So I'm heading off for a few weeks, of R and R with family and friends, I've got my gear packed... Ready for some stitching, some shopping and some prepping.

January is ready

And even February is looking good as the Pattern, has arrived, and a few fabrics chosen, some shopping for backgrounds is needed. I've packed my appliqué paper, so I might try to get something done too.

September - Completed

Ok, by now you are all aware that I am a rebel with a cause...LMAO. Well I like to put my own spin on things. But I can say that I have made a Needle Case just not the complete verision that was our challenge it grew as you can see.

So with that said, September is complete but you will all look and wonder how at all it resembles the  SKOW version of a needle case. Well I wanted it to be more of a travelling sewing item as I wanted it as a gift, so I have morphed a couple of items together to get my version...thanks for inspiring me.

Also in this post, I did mention that the August was coming, with life just getting crazier - NOPE it morphed into a pillow that little bit of fabric, so no bag is not being remade ..post coming over on my blog

August - still coming....but a share

OK well, it's not a complete from this year....but it is two completed versions of this months project, mine from this month is still coming.

I completed 2 of these wonderful bags back in December 2011, as gifts, one for my mum and one for myself...always  love giving myself a gift.

I completed them for our little travel irons complete will little ironing mats inside...mum loved hers.

 Ok, so here is a sneak of the fabric, that I am making this bag from, I designed that little birdy love nest and printed in a screen printing class yesterday - more images to come of my work on my blog....this is going to be a special little bag for my god-daughter, whom I am going to visit in 3 weeks, (Note chooky the chookshed is going to get a visit)
