1st SAL.....Peg, Dale and I committed to stitching Anni Downs - A Gardener's Journal in March. I blogged about this on my blog thinking maybe one or 2 others may join us and lots of girls indicated an interest so I decided to start this blog where we can all encourage each other to meet the goals set along the way....March 2010 -March 2011...........
2nd SAL ......well so many of the girls wanted to continue on with another project and some new girls joined us and now approx 91 girls are stitching Natalie Bird's Tis the Season. March to Sept 2011...............
3rd SAL....many girls want to stick with the SAL so now we have moved onto Anni Downs Some Kind of Wonderful - My Favourite Things Quilt.......Oct 2011-Oct 2012.........
Where are we now.....
4th SAL 2013...is numerous smaller projects from the previous 2 books Tis the Season and Some Kind of Wonderful plus some projects from Red Home by Natalie Bird approx 60 ladies stitching together.........
2014 we had the year off..............
5th SAL 2015..........inspired to continue we are doing another quilt project.....Anni Downs newest quilt Natures Journey.....
6th SAL 2017.............A Holly Cottage Christmas by Michelle Ridgway.......once again the pattern is in an affordable book so it is easy for everyone to join in...........and you can raid your stash for the fabrics........or lash out and buy a the whole lot........this SAL will be run by Fiona aka Bubz Rugz and Raewyn........

Some Kind of Wonderful SAL begins............

I posted about the possible next SAL quite awhile ago............seems most of you missed it.....but you girls who have finished the current SAL and saw the post are bursting the start............
I never thought I would get past the Gardener's Journal SAL so with 2 SAL's down your all keen to find something else to work on together.............
The requirements I have for picking a project is it has to be in a book and the book still available..........BOM pattern's each month makes for a huge expensive quilt just with the pattern...........
Also it is something that won't have everyone doing the exact same fabrics............I love seeing what everyone has picked...........
Anyway as soon as I saw Anni's new book I knew this was the next SAL............some of you girls also suggested it too.............
So the Stitch-a-long for 2012 is
The quilt we will be working on is "My Favourite Things"...........
i'll also be making some of the other projects in the book but the next SAL will be this quilt............
***
Also as an incentive to have the previous SAL's finished I will only let you join in this one once you have finished the others....(only the SALS you had committed too)
.........(Peg you can start to pick your fabrics once you have the TTS finished)
I know some of you are keen to start so I have worked out a plan of attack..............
really you can do what you want but it is nice when we are working on the same sections at the same time.............keeps people motivated............
***
The next few months people are busy Christmas sewing so I have given from now til the end of December to get the first section done.............Sorry about my dodgy lines but you get the idea...........some block piecing/applique/stitchery and strip piecing each month..............
By December -patty cakes, umbrella, tea, jeans, suitcase,
January -chocolates, daisy
February - ice cream, hot chocolate, book
March - house, flowers
April - tree, rainbow
May - sewing, best friends
June - shoes, cat
July - butterfly, bird, sun
August - chair, heart, present
September - piecing quilt together (although this may happen as you go along)
October - quilted bound FINISHED.
There are only 1 or 2 places left on the SAL blog......
.....I added 2 girls today who are joining us on the SKofW SAL.......
......BUT could you please let me know if you have finished the TTS SAL and your not planning on going to this SAL I'll take you off this group blog.
***
Of course your very welcome to stay in the group if you would like to join in the new SAL.........but if your not finished the current SAL's please hurry as best you can..............
Unfortunately if you're reading this and want to be part of the SAL I can only add you in if I have a free spot on the SAL...and you are a blogger.............
(you can always start a blog it is pretty easy and heaps of fun...........)
***
Looking forward to seeing what fabrics people are going to pick for Some Kind of Wonderful.........
Keep Stitching............
Chookyblue...........

Together we can achieve lots - welcome to the 3rd Stitch-a-long

PS SAL girls you need to leave a comment here to get added to this SAL..............

I hope to get it done next week, but I also have a new grandchild due next week in fact if my DIL doesn't have it over the rest of the weekend she has to got to hospital Tuesday and have bub induced. Jaclyn is 5' nothing and is all baby, there is no more room for it and she is exhausted

Oooh! I have enjoyed watching the TTS SAL come along - and love every version I have seen! Have got my own copy of the pattern now to do myself.
I purchased SKoF a couple of months ago and was wanting to make up this quilt, but couldn't fathom trying to do it by myself ... this is a great pattern for a SAL. I realise there probably aren't any places, but I am definitely keen to follow alongside you guys. I will try to keep roughly to your schedule...looks well thought out and achievable!!
Looking forward to the coming versions of this gorgeousness!!!

Pip said...

I finished my TTS quilt a little while ago, I have decided not to participate in the next SAL so I will relinquish my spot on the blog as I can see there are plenty of eager stitchers ready to stitch Some Kind of Wonderful. I will still be following the blog and watching everyone's progress.

barb's creations said...

I'm still working on finding the border materials for my TIS quilt but I'm not hurrying as both parents have been in and out of hospitals the last month so I'm not pressuring myself to get it done.
I like the look of the new SAL and have ordered the book but I wont be joining in this one as I want to finish my TIS quilt so I might just plod along at my own pace if I do decide to do it.
Thanks for cracking the whip Chooky as I certainly wouldn't have got as far as I have with my TIS quilt if I hadn't joined in the fun.
I hope all the girls who join in the new SAL have as much fun as I have with this one :) Barb.

Thanks Chooky..hope there is room for me in the SKoW...and I will post a pic of the finished TTS later today or tomorrow.... :)

Hi Chooky,
I have finished my quilt top & will be working hard to getting it finished when time allows...hopefully next weekend. I've decided not to participate in the 2012 SAL.
I'm very grateful for this on-line group...without this support I know my version of the quilt top would definitely be a UFO.
Cheers....Jane.

Trying hard, had hoped to blog today that the top is complete for the GJ, so perhaps by the end of the day I will.

I would love to stay on, but at this time in my life, I can't commit to the quilt but I have (blush) already completed one of the projects from the Some Kind of Wonderful, and have ear marked a couple more for gifts next year.

I love the support of this group and reading along. Keep up the great work girls.

off to continue at the sewing machine.

this is tag behind Dawnie - I WILL get the TIS done, but it has gone ont he backburne until I have all the Secret Santa stuff finshed. I WILL be making Anni's Wonderful quilt, as am an "anni" addict, and even have it all cut out, but it is sitting on the backburner. I will watch from the sidelines until I catch up to all you wonderful ladies. Fabulous to see soooo many finsihed and they all look great.

Hi CHooky - I sent you a mail some days ago to let you know that I will not participate this time. But I hope to come back another year. I have to finish some of my UFO's and other already bought BOM's. But I will follow all the lovely ladies on their way to reach the goal. Good luck!

Hi Chooky! I have been following this blog for ages- it has introduced me to some wonderful blogs!! If there happens to be any room left when everyone is sorted, I would love to be included! Either way I'm quilting along with everyone else!! It'll be great motivation to make an Anni Downs quilt out of my civil war fabrics! Thanks for using such an entertaining way of inspiration!!

Sheryl said...

OH No! me and my fluffing around has really let me down this time.... down to the last 5 stitcheries on my GJ ... and quite happy with that, now need to start stitching the blocks together.... Have the stitcheries drawn onto the background fabric for TTS ready to go but wanted to finish GJ first...therefore I am going to miss out on the next SAL, although I have the book and fabrics in the cupboard.... my own silly fault if only I hadn't put my time into my darling old cross stitch... but hang on I have got a lot done on that...
So you girls enjoy stitching along together on your SKOW and I will watch and be inspired from the sidelines..... while I finish my GJ and then my TTS...

Looking forward to SAL'ing with you all,
