I almost made it..BUT!

I thought I could have made it by tonight
I was trying really hard to get this finished
BUT after spending the last hour un-sewing
and now I have a huge headache..
I decided to admit defeat.

I have sewn all my blocks,
stitched the details, cut the little squares out
and started to assemble the blocks and sashings,
but as its only one hour or so to go
I thought I would post where I am up too
and when its finished in the next day or so,
post my completed quilt...
I have lots of excuses why its not done but you don't need to hear them.
We all have life that stalls our plans at times...
I have had my fair share the last month or so.
This is a beautiful quilt to make and
I am thrilled to have been a part of a large group,
encouraging one another to make this amazing quilt.
I have been totally inspired by
every ones wonderful blocks and completed tops...thank you ladies
and THANKYOU so much Chookyblue for all the encouragement
and daily reminder emails...LOL.
Without you I would not have achieved this much.
Look out in the coming days for my completed quilt!

 Hugs Dawn x x

No Finish Today

Unfortunately, I have to report that I wasn't able to meet the deadline.  My quilt is still with my friend being quilted.

I’d hoped to have my great, big “Ta Da” moment to share, but it is not to be. Hopefully it won’t be too long until I can share my finished SKOW quilt here. I’m a little disappointed that after everything I’ve missed the dead line, but hey, if that is the worst thing that happens I’m not too worried.

Well done to all the other girls who have had a finish.  They all look fantastic.

Cheers

Janice

Can you have tooooo many pics.........

oh well you just have to have the lot.............I finished the binding while in town and had to stay in for a meeting so it was getting late when I headed home.........remembering I had to take photos for your girls (AND the sun is disappearing) I was keeping an eye out for a fence without barb wire or a nice log not in burrs to take some photos............
without the commitment I made to you and having the Stitch-a-long blog this quilt would not have happened..........
you have been a great support............some times questioning my progress too (which I needed)
I didn't think this quilt would happen in August...........
We started the SAL and all was good and then life went in a wrong direction and it took til September and Janice coming to visit to get back into it.......I had started but not progressed far.......I knew I had been pushing Janice along and I had planned to work on the SAL while she was here.......then i got right into it......addicted..........lol......so most of my quilt was done in 1 month................
a huge thanks to Betty my quilt fairy for fitting the quilt in such a short space of time..........
...I just love what she has done............

close up in sections.........
my layout got changed a bit........
the 4th and 5th rows are swapped as I had a problem with the fabric i used in the chook shed block and I was running out of time to unpick so moved the rows around...........perfect fix..........
the colours in a couple of photos are a little off.......was getting too dark............
a wheat paddock in the distance nearly ready for harvest............
and just one more photo just because I liked it.............
with about 2.5hrs to go (my time) enjoy a quite peaceful rest from me.......

Gardeners Journal Quilt Top

Well today has been a bit hectic with a last minute rush to get my quilt top completed on time, but thank goodness here it is below.  It has been a very long time in the making so I am pleased that Chooky has been pushing all of us to at least get them to this stage.  I took this photo with the quilt on the line and the breeze kept lifting it up so it's the best I can do for now.
Last Block Block I

Completed Top
A special  THANK YOU to you Chooky for all your encouragement and whip cracking over the last few weeks, without it my quilt would still be in a box waiting for more stitcheries to be completed.
Hugs   Noela.

Not quite finished....

I do have to apologize to Chooky and all the other group members as I am not going to get my quilt finished just at the moment.  After another wee health scare and another procedure I have just not had the will to stitch a lot, but what I have stitched mostly on is my SKoW quilt.  Sadly I am not going to have it finished by Christmas, but never mind. I am having some time off after Christmas and will finish it off then. This is really my first quilt, and I do need some help with it. I have a stitchy buddy, Clare who does amazing work and has helped me with a few things now. She is going to help me put it together, and then, another first, it will get quilted some how, probably a bit of machine and a bit of hand if I can. All new to me.

I could not get photos done as my 'helper' just had to be in the shots. It took me ages lol and he is such a poser! I have actually done most of the blocks to this quilt now, just two more to finish off.  Best Friends and the Sewing block.  I do have a lot of my strips and squares all cut out too.  It will be an exciting day when it is all done.

I just love the progress of the quilts to date and they are just so beautiful.  Well done to you all.

Kath

SKoW Update

I need to apologise from the onset of this post, for letting down the team.  I have not been able to complete the top, let alone my version of this amazing quilt.  I am so sorry for letting you all down, and I am truly sorry that this will be a contributing factor if Chooky decides not to begin another SAL - I have enjoyed seeing the progress of each participant in this SAL, and will miss watching them grow if this is the case.  I DO however pledge that I will continue with this quilt - and my goal, however extreme, is to have it done by the end of November.  I am determined to commit to working on this for at least a couple of hours each evening, in order to achieve this goal.

So, I believe that an update on where I'm at is in order.

I spent an evening printing out copies of all of the remaining pages in triplicate, saving one as a frame-of-reference for the stitchery elements (as I have no lightbox as yet, I am relying on sunlight, windows & masking tape to line up everything 'just so') ...

the other copies were used to cut up the different appliqué elements, and then laminated.
I have left them uncut at the moment, ready to separate as needed.  I then keep all the pieces for each block separated in their own ziplock baggies.

I have only been able to complete three new blocks since I last updated.
I am using the needle-turn appliqué method ... which has contributed to making this process long.

My daisy [Jan] ...

My chocolates - yum [Jan]!
I chose to use a silver sparkly metallic thread for the stitching on four of these chocs, just to make them look even more extra yummy!!!

My ice-cream [Feb].

My hot chocolate block is prepped and ready for it's needle turn and stitchery - tonight's task!!

And all my finished blocks together ... I still have one block left of December (since I decided to change the cupcakes to pavlova ... I have finally found a pic for this, and will also be prepping this tonight, along with all the July & Aug blocks).

I even have my pellon all cut and ready to size for all my remaining 17 blocks.  And some squares for the strips - though only creams have been cut as yet.  Although I did start with one range of fabrics, I have started adding others ... and with my perfectionist streak on overdrive, I want need to make sure I include some of each fabric in the coloured blocks.  As a result, I am leaving this until after I have finished the blocks - or at least until I have finished the first two rows.

So, that's where I'm at.  I truly do hope that another SAL quilt is going to be chosen, but I also realise how hard it must be for Chooky to encourage everyone to stay on-plan.  I am so sorry to have fallen so far behind - but yes, I will get there!!  My next uni course begins in December, and I have decided that I want this quilt finished before I start my studies!!

Keep up the good work ladies - I truly *LOVE* watching the progress each of you has been making, even if I haven't been the best of commenters.

Woops forgot the pics!!!

I forgot to add the pics on the last post....
I think I need a glass of wine... Ha ha...

6 hours to go!

Belinda delivered my quilt and I have trimmed it and hope to get the binding sewn on tonight. I don't know if I will make the deadline but thought I would share some pics of the beautiful quilting. Gotta go as the clock is ticking. Talk about Pressure!!!
Keep stitching girls.... Hugs Kate xo

Did you hear it?

Did you just hear the squeal of delight which came from my house? Here I am, just about 12 hours before October finishes ( actually I got an extra hour due to daylight savings) with a finished Gardeners Journal top.

I started this one with a layer cake and a few extra pieces so I ended up with quite a variety of fabric.
I might have been slow but I do enjoy being part of a group all stitching together. Thank you to everyone for taking part and of course to the wonderful Chooky.

WORKING ALONG----

I am not totally done--yet!!!!
but here is where I am at so far--
some more blocks that are done--
I am thinking about adding the words--talent, time, and love to the packages????
I now also have row 3 sewed into a stripe--
and it has been 'approved' by Miss  Gracie!!!!!
I also have row 5's blocks sewed together--
but need to sew row 4 first for the best color ways to look good!!!!
and that is where I am now--
on the last two blocks of row 4!!!
I am adding another block to row 4 and that is nearly done--
then just have the 'sewing' block to do--
and mine will be a bit different from the book?????

As I live in the states--I still have the rest of this evening and all day tomorrow to finish the blocks and sewing them into strips--so I best get busy????????
Hugs, Di and kitty miss gracie

All Done!!!!!!! :)

Hello!  :)

Yes it is DONE!!!!  I'm soooo happy! I absolutely LOVE the way it turned out!!!  :)  Here it is . . .

And the back (not that you can see much - well maybe if you enlarge it) . . .

I tried to take a close up picture of the hand quilting but you really can't see too much.

In the borders I stitched four-petal flowers in every other square with a loop in between with white. In the strip sections I stitched larger four-petal flowers with 2 loops between with white. For the blocks I outline stitched them in red and used white to outline all the shapes in the blocks. As for the smaller block sections between them I stitched one, two or three, five-petal flowers on some of the larger squares using yellow for the centers and either red, pink, blue, or dark blue for the petals. Here it is all folded up . . .

And one last peek at all that Pam Kitty Morning goodness! I love that fabric and it really made this quilt a treasure for me.  :)

That you Chookyblue for cracking the whip as I wouldn't have finished without it!  :)  I live in the US so I actually still had about 32 hours left.  ;)  Thanks to everyone for making it so fun to stitch-a-long with you!  :) It's been fun! I'm hoping there's another fun quilt coming next!

Until Next Time . . .

Top almost finished

Hi Ladies,

The last few days I've sewing like a mad woman.
I wanted to finish my top in time.
I'm living in Belgium so I don't know how many hours
I still have. Yesterday I assembled the top and know
I'm finishing the stitcheries. This afternoon I'm going
to a quiltingbee and I hope that I can finish all of
the stitcheries.
So no picture yet, but I hope to post it this evening.
Overhere it's 10h30 in the morning, so I'm going to
sew all day!!!

Take care,
Martine

only row two

So its taken me longer to download these photos than stitch the blocks! sort of.  My internet/computer connection is playing up and I never know if it will take 10 minutes or 10 years to log on. Anyway, progressing slowly but steadily on my blocks

in order that I may complete row two of my Some kind of wonderful quilt.

Its been wonderful watching the progress of every one's work, especially those who have finished quilts. They all look amazing.

I'll keep plugging on.......

Happy Stitching, Susie

These rows are really hard to photograph.

An Update

Hello!  :)

I just wanted to stop in for a minute with an update. I've finally finished hand-quilting my SKOW quilt! Yea! It took a while but I'm glad I did it! I'm loving the way it's turning out! I got the binding on today and will be stitching it down tonight. I'm hoping to have it finished tomorrow. Here's a sneak peak . . .

Now no more pictures until it's finished. Hopefully that will be tomorrow. I can't wait! I love it! I'm glad I was able to take part in this SAL! It's been lots of fun!  :)

Until Next Time . . .
