August over

August was not long enough for me!…So.. sorry to report.. no progress from me this month!

I just got home from doing  Trek 4 Kidz.. a bush bash on rough dirt roads..a fundraiser for the Starlight Foundation…. and believe me.. totally unable to stitch on those car trips!!
Before we left I was making costumes… so excuses, excuses… please don't give me the chop!!!

I really love doing this project with you all… and you are doing some great work..
I promise to catch up by the end of September.
I really need some stitch therapy after my bash experience.. so am super keen to get back into it!!
Happy stitching
Lea

congrats.............

to all the girls who have August done CONGRATS...........
they look fantastic............

Just made it!

Stitched my last little square on at 10pm! I wasn't sure that August would be done on time but am pleased to have made the deadline! Here is my centre block.

August Done and Dusted

Once again I finished by the skin of my teeth, putting the last stitches in last night.  Phew, with a day to spare.

Firstly the borders went on, continuing to use only fabrics from my stash.

Then I had to make the decision as to how I would attach the diamonds.  I could do like the pattern suggested, ie basting over papers and hand appliqué, or I could baste  over papers and then machine appliqué with a blind hem, or I could do like the rest of the quilt and use Vlisofix and a machine blanket stitch.  After much procrastinating and the month very quickly passing by I took the easy option and used machine blanket stitch.  It came together quickly and I don’t think the appearance of the quilt is compromised.

I'm loving how it is turning out.  It could quite easily be a wall hanging just like this.  I've cut all my coloured squares for next month.  There are now no pieces larger than a two inch square in my bag of scraps.  I then had fun pulling other fabrics from my stash.  Now I just have to cut the small blue squares and the pink pieces and get on with lots of piecing.

Next month looks like it will certainly keep us busy if we are to finish the top, particularly as there is lots of other things going on now that the weather is warming up.

I'm loving seeing everyone else's versions.  Thanks as always to the whip crackers.

Cheers

Janice

End of Month Update....

Well, didn't quite make it for the end of August but here is my progress to date.....all the little diamonds now in a compact box so together with scissors, cotton it becomes more portable......
and here is the progress to date.... the top row is sewn down and the side row is being organised for spacing!

No more time for chatting - off to have dinner and then get on with the stitching!

Happy Stitching!

A just a little behind

I have nearly finished my appliqué centre.
I had to put it on hold to write an essay which is due this evening.

For my reward I am going to spend the rest of the evening back stitching the centre.

August done....

I went away for a few days and took my applique with me only to discover I had not cut enough so this morning I quickly did 6 more and sewed them on.....

Glad I could make it in time......

... it's surprisingly big with these borders on....

Thanks everyone.. so nice to sew with you all and see so many different ones ... and they all look fantastic...

August ... Made It Just

It's a good thing that August has 31 days and not 30 or I wouldn't have made it....finished off the last row this morning. The sun is so bright this morning it hasn't photographed very well.

NJ will have to go on the back burner for a bit as September is a super busy month here starting with DD's wedding next Saturday. With the ceremony at home there's all the last minute tidying and decorations to finish making. I hope to get all those little squares cut before school holidays at the end of the month so maybe then I can concentrate on the Journey.

Loving everyone's finished centres ... well done!

Holiday's homeworks

Hi, girls! I went on holidays on August and I always bring with me some patchwork homeworks. This year I did the same but this is my first holidays with my little new-born, so the time was not the same as the past... :) I quilted Henrietta Whiskers and I made some Nature's Journey blocks. Very busy this autumn, but I will work every sunday to Nature's journey! In the meanwhile, so happy to see your progresses, I do love July and August blocks!!!! <3

Finally July done

Almost done the July block( legs of butterfry and lady bug are still missing, sorry). Does it look OK? It is the first time to do the peeper border, so if you could see some mistake, would you let me know?

I am sorry that it is quite late to done it. I moved back to Korea from California 2weeks ago. I am so exited to be here, but I miss there too.

Progress pic

Just a quick pic to show my progress!

All laid out now, just going to sew dark border on and begin appliqueing. I glue prepped the squares all in one hit, instead of EPPing them.

August Progress

Just a quick pic and spiel. I'm done cutting the squares and will begin appliqueing them as soon as my typing fingers are free!

Also just want to point out, that the measurements for the finished size of this months block can't be right. It doesn't finish at 27.5 x 33.5. It can't. That would make it too big on both long sides when the next border is attached. Either that or I'm going nuts lol, which is quite possible...

I decided to go with a plain border instead of a scrappy one. The centre piece is pieced and to me that adds enough interest. So I went with the plain arrangement.

Hope everyone is madly stitching.
Lots of hugs,
Kel x

April finished!

I bet you didn't see this one coming any time soon. I, for one, have not been holding my breath waiting for this last block to get finished. But, today, during one of little A's naps, I decided to see if I could get the block prepped - and, after that was completed, see how much of it I'd be able to do before she woke up.

Well, I didn't get much done before she was up and ready for action again - but she did play on her mat for a little while so that I could finish the appliqué. The star is completed - and thus all the blocks from April can now be crossed off the list!

Not too bad, it only took about four months to get it done.. :-p

I'll see if I can get some new background fabrics selected and cut for May and June tomorrow (or this weekend, what ever comes first with some me-time). I'm not sure when I'll be able to start July (or August, for that matter) seeing as we haven't found a desk yet. Actually, we're missing quite a bit of stuff, and since moving, still have a bunch of boxes here and there. But, we're getting there. The house is liveable and we're getting to know the neighbourhood and the city. So far, not really missing Oslo - but I guess we'll get to that point too, sooner or later.

But tonight I'll be celebrating this one little victory!

May I have an "A, please?

July/Aug catch up

Tomorrow, I am off to a retreat at Tamborine Mountain where I am hoping to catch up on my SAL blocks. Will be there until Sunday so should get a good bit of stitching done on that centre block, then I can add the pieced border which I completed last weekend.

Well must go, as I need to pack for tomorrow. Be back next week with an update.

FEB CHOPPED.............

I had to put my big girls pants on and make a decision.............
as life spins in a whirls I have said enough is enough...........
Image result for chop

Sadly I have removed 4 ladies from the SAL...........I have tried on numerous occasions to contact them with no response so I can only assume they no longer wish to be part of the SAL or they no longer have the email address I contacted then with.............
these ladies had not even shared one month completed blocks...........
&&&
I have seen some progress from some but many months ago.............
If you are reading this and your one of the ladies and still want to be part and will show your progress then please contact me ASAP.........
&&&
Next on the chopping block are those who have not completed March............
so get moving........
I feel a bit mean but we all joined in to do this together..........
yes there are some hiccups along the way .......but as things happen to people along the way they often email me if there is some delay......some of those reasons have been wonderful holidays.....
some not......trust me you would not believe what people have had to deal with during this SAL............absolute terrible heartache this year but everyone has picked up and kept going.........some even saying the SAL is what has kept them going..........
Ester was behind but OMG look what she has been posting lately.........
YOU CAN DO IT.........
Chookyblue.........

2 more borders to go!

Slow going for me now with my fractured ankle, but sewing a little bit! I am so happy with how this is turning out! Cast comes off next week so hopefully the top  will be done soon!

AUGUST IS READY:-)

Good evening,

We had a terrible tsunami-like fload storms last week in Budapest turning squares into lakes and streets ro raging rivers. My workplace had been seriously damaged, I was very nervous and shoked for days.  It was relaxing to have this beautiful pattern at home, though all this experience had an effect, it is far not as perfect as I can sew, but well... sewing this was a healing and felt much better and the "scars" are mine, in my heart, on my quilt.

Just two pictures of many, during the fload:

After the fload:

And my center block (without ironing):

Happy sewing!:-)

Hugs,

Part 5

Finally the blocks for June are done.
My ladybugs have got a personal twist, but I think that's okay :-)
The next weeks seem to be busy. I know there will not  be much time to give the quilt priority, but I hope at least to make progress.
Have a wonderful weekend all of you!

August Update

Today is August 20
Oops! Only 11 days left to sew
these 40 diamonds onto the center portion...
they are all pressed and just need the paper taken
out of them and then I can get started....I figure if
I sew 5 or more each night, I'll make it.

 But first, I've got
to finish this...shouldn't take more than an hour, right?

I'm glad I went with the pink background
pieces as suggested..I'm liking the way it looks...
and since my applique blocks are white, I think
this was a good choice.....now on with the show...

Having Withdrawals...

I so miss Australia!  During our three week stay I stitched most of my centre block, after all the 30 hour jaunt made for good stitching time. Bah!
So enjoyed working on the centre block but maybe because I was on holidays?!  Or was it because of its beauty?!  Maybe both!
Here we go...
