Nancy's blocks

Here is a pictures of the last three blocks I stitched, I did two of them just the past week and half way done with the seventh. Half way there and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!!! I hope everyone else that hasn't finished yet will pick them back up in time for next Christmas. The closer I get the more excited I am to finish this little beauty.

The Gift of Giving..........

The gift of giving is so amazing..................it is such a good feeling..............seeing, hearing, reading those precious responses........when you give someone a gift...........it is even more precious when you can make your gifts............thinking about the person receiving the gift as you go along..................
This is a special gift.................this quilt is a group project for one of the SAL members................earlier in the year I got an idea emailed some girls and was blown away by the response..............so promptly people got stitching and the blocks were stitched for Deb and Andrea..........both having terrible times in there lives and both girls had been part of the smaller GJ SAL group........(poor Deb has had earth quakes again today)..
Miche'le got to work on Deb's  (here) quilt but it took a little while for Andrea's to happen............lets say life interrupted............finally it got to the machine as was pulled together............popped into the mail and landed on the sleigh today................just in time for Christmas.......

and here are all the blocks with the girls links.......sorry some are a little scrunched...........

"Tis the Season" Quilt

I now have the internet back on and am able to share my finished "Tis the Season" quilt!!   It is off to the quilters this week to be quilted as I have far too many projects to complete before Christmas and far too little time to quilt by hand!!

I have enjoyed stitching this quilt and am really looking forward to starting Anni Downs "My Favourite Things" with this Stitch A Long group!  Thanks to everyone for the inspiration to finish and to Chookyblue for being such a hard task master and making us all accountable!   It's always fun to finish and see everyones completed quilts!

May you all "gather Christmas joy in your heart"!!

Tis the Season

I have spent this afternoon putting my borders onto my stitched blocks for my Tis the Season quilt!  The camera died and is now charging but I did take some photos along the way to share and will hopefully be able to take more and download for tomorrow!

I think this is my favourite!

I have enjoyed stitching with the variegated red DMC thread and am looking forward to having this quilted (by someone else) so I can make a start on "My Favourite Things" quilt by Anni Downs!!    I'm nearly there Chooky!!!!   And I'm loving seeing everyone's progress on that !!!

Tis the Season finished!

Here is Tis the Season finished! The quilting is fairly rough but I am pleased it is done. Remind me to get things quilted in future! I haven't the patience and don't enjoy the process enough to do it perfectly!
 Here is the label too.
Please, Chooky, mark me off and add me to the SKOW list!!!!

Ta Dah 'Tis Done!...

At last...Ta Dah!...'Tis the Season...a finished, quilted, bound and labeled quilt!!!...

Finished this morning at local quilting group...happy dancing!...hand quilted with a chocolate brown perle 8 thread, much happier than the aborted attempt at machine quilting, it really did not want to be machine quilted.  The 13th stitchery, the wreath, was awarded the supporting role of label.

Now can I have my SKoW spot please Chooky...the book has been waiting since July and I have a couple of bundles of fabrics from the stash that are currently vying for the role of lead fabrics...

More from Tis the Season

Well I have officially finished 7 blocks for this…
  1. Peace on Earth
  2. Bon Noel Birdies
  3. Christmas Reindeer
  4. Christmas Angels
  5. Chilly Penguins
  6. Here comes Santa
  7. Partridge in a Pear Tree

I have made sewn 3 blocks together – Peace on Earth, Here Comes Santa, Bon Noel Birdies and then 3 more blocks together Chilly Penguins, Christmas Angels, Christmas Reindeer.  Once I had my rows together I then put the 2 rows into one.   I am so pleased with the progress that I am making I am sure to catch up soon… Maybe not the quilting or binding as I send that out and I don’t have a lady at this time but I am sure that I will find one soon.

Now that I have 2 rows together I can kind of see what my border and binding is going to look like with the blocks.  What do you think?  Does this look ok?

Well I just need to run to the store to get more DMC Floss as I am out of the green and will be soon on the red so it is time to get this so that I can get the stitchery done.

Till Next Time,
Shauna

Second Post - Tis The Season

Hi all,  I am just doing my second post for this Stitch-A-Long.  I have had this on the back burner for sometime.  I have been reading the posts and doing a little comments here and there but not really doing anything of my own on this project.  I just had so much other things to do and then I feel ill and everything took the back burner.  Well I am back and I have to day Better then Ever.

So I got my fabric (post here) and I read the directions and did my cutting as per the directions...I was totally on top of this with all the intentions of the world to stay on top of this project.  Well then we started calving which took a lot of my time and then I feel ill on top of it all.  Everything went on the back burner, I was working on Hickory Hills and BOM Raggedy and Friends.  This summer I got everything back, feeling much better and I finished Hickory Hills and Raggedy and Friends.  The only thing left on my plate was Tis The Season.  So on Saturday feeling great that I have finally finished my projects I pulled out this project.  To realize that I have not even traced the Stitchery on to my fabric, so I did that.  Sunday came and started doing my stitching, by the end of the day I have 3 done!! Man did I feel great.  So this morning, I pieced these 3 blocks together so I at least had something seeing how most of you have pretty much completed your quilt tops.

I know that this is not the order that they are suppose to be in but I am doing it a little different as I have a little different fabric and thread so I don't want to get it all mixed up as that would totally suck.  So I am just working on the Block "A" s right now.  And I have completed the first 3.

I have a question for all of you: When you started piecing your blocks did you notice that you were short strips – for example it says Six (6), 4 ½” x 1 ½” – but when I pieced everything I actually needed Twelve (12), 4 ½” X 1 ½”.

Well I am hoping to have my top done by the end of next week if all goes as planned.  As I really just need to do the stitchery as everything else is done.  So by the end of September my quilt top should be done, and I can’t wait to show you all my progress.

Till Next Time,
Shauna

Tis the Season SAL update.............

i'm sorry girls I am sure you have given up on me but the last few months are taking there toll...............
June was a write off but I did get my June blocks finished in July and also my July ones made it in by a skim in July..............I think .....maybe it was July at the end of the time zones.........
So here they all are and August is as good as done to in the bottom middle...........just need to sew the running stitching around the edge..........and my label (wreath block) is traced and ready to start the stitching...............
As I only have fat 1/4s of this fabric I will put a white border around the blocks and then use the left overs for a scrappy binding............what do you think???
&&&
How is everyone esle going:???? making progress???
We all need to finish this by the end of September..........
Keep up the great stitching.............

Nancy's Tis The Season Stitch Along...

Hi Chooky,

     Boy, I am so slow!
But here are the first three blocks finished. I had them finished three weeks ago, except for the last two letters stitched on Bon Noel, but came to a screeching halt with the warm weather, outside activities and health issues.
Anyway, they are finally finished and I have started on April's blocks, hopefully I will work faster now.
I keep getting distracted by another project, "Ice Cream Sundae" from Paula Stoddards book 'Hooked on Fats 2'.
This isn't a very good picture (shows just six of the twelve blocks I have ready), but this is one of those projects that has been ready to put together for a long time and now it is SCREAMING at me...I can hear it all the way upstairs *sigh*. UFO's don't usually bother me but this one is really getting under my skin.  Anyone else have those kind of projects?
Well, forgive me for working at a snails pace, I plan to stitch the rest of the afternoon and evening away so I'm off, needle in hand.
         Big Hugs,
            Nancy
OH...Now you can mark me for three finished blocks (I'm really tired of looking at that '1', LOL).
