The Gift of Giving..........

The gift of giving is so amazing..................it is such a good feeling..............seeing, hearing, reading those precious responses........when you give someone a gift...........it is even more precious when you can make your gifts............thinking about the person receiving the gift as you go along..................
This is a special gift.................this quilt is a group project for one of the SAL members................earlier in the year I got an idea emailed some girls and was blown away by the response..............so promptly people got stitching and the blocks were stitched for Deb and Andrea..........both having terrible times in there lives and both girls had been part of the smaller GJ SAL group........(poor Deb has had earth quakes again today)..
Miche'le got to work on Deb's  (here) quilt but it took a little while for Andrea's to happen............lets say life interrupted............finally it got to the machine as was pulled together............popped into the mail and landed on the sleigh today................just in time for Christmas.......

and here are all the blocks with the girls links.......sorry some are a little scrunched...........

Gardener's Journal finish and a TTS update.....

this post is a bit late! My Gardener's Journal quilt has been finished for a while but have been trying to get a decent pic - ....so here it is....all done....yay....

Thanks to Chooky for cracking the whip....what a motivator she is!  I am thrilled to have this quilt finished and it probably wouldn't be done if I hadn't joined the SAL .....nothing like a group of friends to keep you motivated and on track......and accountable...LOL

Now...the TTS update......I picked the fabrics to use for this quilt very quickly and got started.....but then I had a change of mind.......then couldn't make up my mind......then went back to the original choice......and got cracking .......these blocks have been done over the past two weeks....and I am pretty happy witht he way they are coming along.  Ignore the upside down block in the middle row........!

So .....mark me off as finished for the GJ quilt.....and the TTS quilt shouldn't (repeat shouldn't) be far behind.....

Fabric choices...and first block

I finally decided on the fabrics to use......and decided to use just two......but might have to modify as I don't have enough of the paisley for the border......it's an old Three Sisters fabric Peace on Earth - pattern #3922 Paisley on Red (just in case someone has a piece they want to swap/sell).......anyhoo...happy with the block I have finished....just need to keep stitching now........

Procrastination is the name of the game......

Have been enjoying reading about fabric choices etc........but can I make mine?  No....although I have the stitchery fabric cut and all the stitcheries traced........so that's a start ..right?  So will sign off this pathetic photo-less little post now and get back in the sewing room and finish sorting through the piles of fabric I have been "auditioning" for this project.  Thought I had better post something about where I was at with this project or I would have Chooky on my case!

And now to quilt........

...but the question I have is.....are you quilting over the stitcheries?  I have been looking at the finished GJ top and pondering this question so am putting it to the group for some help......I will probably quilt it myself but am not sure about quilting over the stitchery blocks....your thoughts?

Borders on at last!

I have had the top finished for a while......had pink picked out for the borders but it made the quilt 'too pink'....so had to order some green - it arrived on Friday so the borders are on and now I need to quilt it.....so.....watch this space...!

Not the best pic.....looks a little washed out.....will try for a better one later.......I had to wait for Mark to come over and I was lucky he held it up for as long as he did...LOL....Note my little helper on the lounge in the background!

Block F....done!

This burst of winter weather has been good for something!  I have finished Block F.....which means I am actually ahead of schedule!  I can see the end in sight for this project now and can't wait to start putting the blocks together...I have made a pact with myself to finish all the stitcheries first.......

Made a start on Block B last night and hope to finish it tonight while I am watching the footy.........

It's August and I am stitching the August block - woo hoo!!

I have finally got myself together and am back on track with the SAL.......I pieced all the blocks a while ago and have been trying to catch up on the stitcheries .......with a concerted effort during this week I am there.....stitching the August block in August!!

I was determined to catch up after a slow and interrupted start - thanks Chooky for the occasional "reminder"...couldn't have done it without you!
