The Gift of Giving..........

The gift of giving is so amazing..................it is such a good feeling..............seeing, hearing, reading those precious responses........when you give someone a gift...........it is even more precious when you can make your gifts............thinking about the person receiving the gift as you go along..................
This is a special gift.................this quilt is a group project for one of the SAL members................earlier in the year I got an idea emailed some girls and was blown away by the response..............so promptly people got stitching and the blocks were stitched for Deb and Andrea..........both having terrible times in there lives and both girls had been part of the smaller GJ SAL group........(poor Deb has had earth quakes again today)..
Miche'le got to work on Deb's  (here) quilt but it took a little while for Andrea's to happen............lets say life interrupted............finally it got to the machine as was pulled together............popped into the mail and landed on the sleigh today................just in time for Christmas.......

and here are all the blocks with the girls links.......sorry some are a little scrunched...........

Are you ready?

Wooohoooo...only one sleep to go! Are you all ready to start stitching on our new SAL??

I have to admit, it took me awhile to sign up for this one...I was ummming and ahhhing over colours, and whether I'd have time, and blah blah blah...and then I came across this...

...sweet images from Tilda's Christmas Ideas, and the decision was made in an instant. I have a thing for bright colours and if there's red and pink...all the better!

Most of the fabrics are from Rosalie Quinlan's Sweet Broderie collection, with some red polkadots and other fabrics thrown in for good measure. I'm planning to stitch the blocks in either red or pink too...yummmm!
I'm loving seeing all your piles of fabrics and threads coming together...there are going to be some gorgeous wallhangings come December :)
Let the fun begin...again!

Borders...tick!

It's taken me a little while...even more than just a little while LOL...but my borders are now on!

Tomorrow this top will be heading off to the quilters, so that she can work her magic...quilting is really not my thing! The borders have toned down the brightness of the quilt quite a bit, which I was really happy with.

Wishing you all a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a Happy New Year!

I'm looking forward to seeing lots more finishes of A Gardeners Journal in the New Year (wink!), so that we can all start our lovely new project together.

A little stitching...

...actually, a little more than a little :)

Here are my three lovely ladies at the Garden Show...

...this would have to be my favourite block. Something about these girls just makes me smile.

So Block I is now complete and looks like this...

BUT WAIT! There's more...

...the colours are a bit off, but I couldn't resist showing you this! Yes, that red is my first border! I'm waiting for my second border fabric to arrive, and then I can think about who is going to quilt (me or a professional)...it depends on how impatient I get :)
I'm going to be a bit lost without this quilt to stitch...must be time to start my Christmas stitching !

Give me an E!

Definitely on the downhill slide now....

This is Block E...orchard and bug. After some of the big blocks, this one seemed to come together very quickly!

I stitched orange, lemon and apple trees...because variety is good :)

Just one more block to go...and it's traced and ready to stitch. Wooohoooooo!
How is everyone quilting their finished quilt?

Hello Block A!

It is with much excitement that I show you...

...the last of my catch-up blocks! This is Block A, which according to the "plan of attack" was to be completed in May (which is before I joined this happy little group LOL)

My stash of pre-cut squares for this quilt is growing smaller and smaller...which means that the end is getting closer and closer!
I've had some computer issues in the last week...no internet at all...so I'm looking forward to seeing where you're all up to!
Happy stitching

Almost caught up!

I'm getting a bit excited...it's only the 12th of October, and I've just put the last stitches in October's Block B! Woohoooooooo!

This leaves the rest of the month for me to stitch Block A, and for the very first time...be all caught up! Again...wooohoooooo!

I love this little push mower...my Dad used to have one of these :) Then there's the other block...

...I changed the hearts to butterflies :) The appliqued hearts felt a little...out of place? I traced the butterflies onto the vliesofix using an old scrapbooking template.
Here's the whole of Block B...

I'm loving seeing all of your quilts grow...there are some truly beautiful quilts coming together. Keep up the great work ladies...not long to go now :)

Goodbye September!

Sliding in sideways...with just a couple of hours to spare...my freshly completed Block F!

I stitched my happy gardener so it was obvious that she is not me...

She has blonde hair, I have dark...she has a cat on her lap, I'm allergic to cats...she likes to garden, I do not... I used to have a white wicker chair though ;)
All joined together my Block F looks like this...

But wait!!! We can join it to Block G....oh how I love it when we can join :)

Hello October...and Block B!
Happy stitching

There's no place like home...

....for sheer volume of stitches! Wow, you girls were right...there was a lot of stitching in this house, but I am happy to report...

...it's all finished! I put the final stitches in this morning, and with that, Block C is complete.
Compared to the house, the dog house was a breeze :)

The flower wreath? A piece of cake!

All joined together...

This one was a catch-up block for me, since I didn't start A Gardeners Journal until July...woohooo, I'm getting there :)
I've pieced together and traced September's Block F all ready for stitching, and then have only Block A to do and I am up-to-date with Chookyblue's grand plan (and wouldn't I love that!!)
Here's to a sunny, stitchy weekend!

D-d-d-d-d-d-done!

August's Block D is all done...

...how fun is this one to stitch? The little corn cobs and carrots are just way too cute!

I took the advice of several of you lovely ladies, and prepared that big nasty house block to stitch when I get ahead of "the plan" for the month. It's coming along quite nicely...but boy, there is some stitching in it! It should definitely keep me out of trouble until September rolls around :)
