The Gift of Giving..........

The gift of giving is so amazing..................it is such a good feeling..............seeing, hearing, reading those precious responses........when you give someone a gift...........it is even more precious when you can make your gifts............thinking about the person receiving the gift as you go along..................
This is a special gift.................this quilt is a group project for one of the SAL members................earlier in the year I got an idea emailed some girls and was blown away by the response..............so promptly people got stitching and the blocks were stitched for Deb and Andrea..........both having terrible times in there lives and both girls had been part of the smaller GJ SAL group........(poor Deb has had earth quakes again today)..
Miche'le got to work on Deb's  (here) quilt but it took a little while for Andrea's to happen............lets say life interrupted............finally it got to the machine as was pulled together............popped into the mail and landed on the sleigh today................just in time for Christmas.......

and here are all the blocks with the girls links.......sorry some are a little scrunched...........

Had to share

I just had to share my excitement..... I joined all the blocks together today .... bit of a rough photo but my hubbie isn't a very good quilt holder, I have the wide border fabric but not the narrow border fabric so that will be my next job.

I HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND SAFE NEW YEAR.

Thanks for all the encouragement with this quilt and I can't wait for the next one to begin.
Thanks to Chooky for this great quilt journey.

A stitch-a-long Day Out.

On Tuesday Kayly and I decided to go on an adventure and visit some other stitch-a-long members . I knew that Teresa and Helen visited Tereasa's shop on Tuesdays so we decided that that was the perfect time to visit. Kayly, Tereasa and I were even stitching our Gardener's Journal. As Helen and Teresa didn't know we were going to be there, we will forgive them for not bringing thier Gardener's Journal stitcheries this time but maybe we will visit again later and post some more progress photos.
We thought that you might all like to see us hard at work stitching.

While we were there we were able to see Teresa's beautiful Girl's Day Out Quilt - do go and check out the photos on her blog.

Is there anybody else out there getting together? Post a photo if you do!

Only just a little bit late !!!!

I agree with you Kris.... where did June go.... I too had the first 2 blocks done on time but not this one, I will have to pull my socks up for this month so enough of this chatter I'm off to the sewing room to draw up the next block.

Keep up the good work girls we will be finished before you can say ..... stitch-a-long......

One down !!!!

First block finish for me and I'm very happy with my fabric choice but like everyone else choosing fabrics seems to be the hardest part of quilt making, nice to have a good start though.

Having cut a lot of the fabric pieces for this quilt I thought they might get a bit lost so the zip lock bags came in very handy, still have a bit more to cut yet though.

Giving it a go and hope ....

Well I have decided to get started on this project ...tennis elbow or not, doctor said not to do anything and after 10 days I just can't stand the boredom so today I bought a brace for my arm, pain killers at the ready and will rest when it gets too much so I traced the first stitcheries and can't wait to get going, fingers crossed all will be well.
