Progess report!

I thought I would post again with another two blocks.  I am really enjoying the stitching now as I am not worrying about getting a perfect stitch every time.

I am very confident that I will now complete the quilt on time.  I am stitching for a least an hour a day, but some days I stitch longer.   I have all the fabric, threads and book in a bag that I can pick up and take with me if I go out.  It is amazing how much you can achieve whilst waiting for appointments or picking up children from collage etc.

  Happy Stitching, Deborah

Can you hear that?

I can...the sound of the wrath of Chookyblue bearing down upon me!
And deservedly sew...oops I mean so. I have not been a very good stitchalong groupie this year and have totally lost my oomph with this...despite Chooky's gentle (and not so gentle) encouragement and the inspiration I get from seeing everyone's wonderful finishes. I have three blocks stitched, four more traced, the blocks all together and ....blah. I think I just need to allocate some time each week and stick to it.
One hour per week sounds do-able...what do you think?

Good Morning Girls!

Just wanted to let you know that I've done some updating (for Chookyblue) this morning. I hope I've not missed anyone!! If I have, please let me know (farmyardcrafts@gmail.com) and I can fix it up!

Yes, Chookyblue is fine. Just crazy busy right now. This is one little thing I can do to help her out.

Rightio - that's it from me. I better get organised. The grocery shopping doesn't do itself! Gee I am so jealous of you 'city girls' that can do your shopping online and have it delivered! We have an hour to drive to town before we can even think about doing the shopping!!

Maybe we should stop eating?! Okay, not really an option. I best go get ready!!

Have a great weekend girls and congratulations on lots of finishes and a few more finished quilts to add to the list!

And maybe a top by the end of the week-end.

This is what I'm up to!

Closeup of my tablerunner
These are some of my second lot of stitcheries. I have been thinking about whether, as an Aussie, I really need a second Christmas quilt. (There are some people at my house who question the value of the first Christmas quilt! Just because Christmas usually coincides with a heatwave here, what's their point?)

The first tablerunner, with blocks each way so as not to discriminate against any side of the table!
So I have decided the second set of thirteen stitcheries will become projects. Table runners are first on my list. The one above is for my daughter and her family. I have spent quite a bit of time visiting with them in Adelaide through July and August (I became a grandmother for the third time) and feel like I have done very little in that time! (Other than snuggle newborns and cute kids! Worthwhile, of course!) My plan now is to get these TTS projects finished off in the next couple of weeks or so. Watch this space!

Kris from Life at Rosemary Hill

I'm now Quilting...TTS Blocks.

Wednesday saw me in my Sewing Cave to finish off my last 2 blocks of my TTS ...
I had decided from the begining that I was going to make a Tablerunner with my blocks rather than a Quilt..We have a very long table which is Needing More Tablerunners...
I did a Complete turnaround and took off the 2nd lot of Borders on all blocks & have put on 2 seperate border strips down both sides of the blocks....
I forgot to take a piccie of the last 2 blocks but here it is being quilted...I have also added on some extras & the binding is now on....I will follow up with a final photo soon.

Cheers
Maree

Then are my 2 last blocks finished. Now I'm going to finish it. I have the fabrics for the borders, but I have to buy backing. May be next week???

When I look around in the blog now, there are so many quilts that are finished. They all look gorgeous all of them.

Until next time  -  have fun everybody!

Here I have put all the blocks together. Just borders, binding and backing that is missing

THE NEXT 2 BLOCKS

Hi all, I have finished all but my signature block and plan to get my quilt finished by the weekend. I am enjoying doing the SAL and hope there will be more projects to do soon. Sorry I forgot to iron the Santa block before taking my photo, but I was so excited to have sewed the 12 blocks that I wanted to share straight away. Cant wait for tomorrow to get it all put together. Bye for now Jude (judesstuff).

Finally Finished :-)

Well, here is my project completed .. yeah!!!!!. It's all done by hand apart from some of the binding, so it has taken a little while, but I'm happy with the way it has turned out. I may still add some embellishments here and there if/when I come across any bits and bobs that will suit it.

I'm loving seeing how everyone is coming along with theirs, and I'm looking forward to see lots more completed really soon.

Can you please mark me off Chooky, and I can't wait to see what our next project will be!!

Keep stitching :-)

August blocks from Finland

I am on early in this month...
both blocks are stitched and even pieced together!

Do you feel THE feeling, which I felt when I ALSO got these pretty things together...
I have seen many beautiful tops and finished TIS quilts here,
that I was so inspired with my own blocks and it was easy to keep the schedule;)

Now there is border blocks ahead... Yes, you read totally right... blocks;)
I'm planning to make a bit different borders to my version.
Hopefully I'll succeed with them...

with Stitching Hugs - Satu

Last Block

My last block is stitched and has been for a week

BUT

it won't have its borders on or get stitched to the other
blocks until next month

the removalists arrive in 9 days
10 days til we are out of the house
11 days til I have to scrub our naked house til it sparkles
12 days til we sail out of Tasmania :(
17 days til we move into our new house

so my priorities at the moment to get the stuff we are storing
packed, trips to the tip, op shop and girlie things to do

I was hoping to have the top together and quilted before we go but
its not going to happen.

and if you'd like to see how chaotic my normal
clean, tidy and organised house now looks go
to my blog, and see what I am dealing with

I am a bit overwhelmed, very emotional,
and very over moving.....

Tis the Season SAL update.............

i'm sorry girls I am sure you have given up on me but the last few months are taking there toll...............
June was a write off but I did get my June blocks finished in July and also my July ones made it in by a skim in July..............I think .....maybe it was July at the end of the time zones.........
So here they all are and August is as good as done to in the bottom middle...........just need to sew the running stitching around the edge..........and my label (wreath block) is traced and ready to start the stitching...............
As I only have fat 1/4s of this fabric I will put a white border around the blocks and then use the left overs for a scrappy binding............what do you think???
&&&
How is everyone esle going:???? making progress???
We all need to finish this by the end of September..........
Keep up the great stitching.............

Some Kind of Wonderful

Slow and steady is this little snail, I am all but finished the last of my stitchery in my Gardeners Journal Quilt, and I hope to complete the last few panels tomorrow at the sewing machine - well laid plans let's hope. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

But I know that I haven't posted for so long, but just realised that I didn't share my project that was inspired by the post by Chookyblue.

I feel in love with the projects on the cover, and just had to have this book. The girls were wonderful and shipped it to me ASAP, so that I could complete a project for my Mum from this book.

The projects are wonderful and this little coin purse was completed in a couple of hours - loved it thanks girls for continuing to inspire me to stitch and quilt!!!

Quilt Top Finished

Here's my finished quilt top. I'm loving it, very Christmas RED!

That's all 13 stitcheries for me Chooky as I have my quilt label in the mittens block.

Now I need to go back & look at everyones ideas on how to quilt. That is one of those scary subjects in quilting.

Happy stitching
Tracee xx

RUNNING BEHIND

I am running behind with my blocks as I have been sewing curtains for my daughter. They are all done and now i hope to catch up on my other sewing projects. there are some lovely blocks being shown on here and looking forward to seeing them finished. Bye for now Jude

Slowly, slowly.

Although I have been very quiet over the year, I have been following the posts.  I have had several curved balls thrown into my life to slow me down with my blocks/quilt.

I had to order my book from New Zealand as I could not buy the book from any shop in England.  Then I had to travel to several shops to find the right colour thread.  As I live in a rural village, this meant travelling to the nearest city of Plymouth.   I have been stitching slowly but I feel that my work is not as nice as all my fellow bloggers.  All your quilts are wonderful.
I am really enjoying making this quilt.  I would like to thank Chookyblue for all her encouragement and patience.

August Tis The Season Blocks

Here are my last 2 Blocks for "Tis the Season"

"Here Comes Santa"
I decided to use the 13th stitchery as my quilt label......
Now to join the last blocks and start quilting and binding....

Until next time, Happy Stitching

July Blocks

Just a little late, though they were stitched in June. With dd’s birthday at the end of June, & 3 more in July in our home, it’s our ‘busy’ month.

housewreathwreath house

gold stars all round...........

Finally I got some time to sit and update the SAL blog................
you girls get a gold star for effort...........
I had to update from Jo's post on the 20th July - 30 posts and comments later I hope you have seen the 4 finished quilts in that time.....and lots of stitching........well done girls............you all get a gold star for effort
keep up the great work...........hopefully I can share mine soon.......life is out of control here at the moment.....basically I come home to eat, wash and sleep and out again........it's not even organise chaos
...I've got the June blocks done a few weeks ago and the July blocks are stitched with one border to add.........and I have started hand stitching August blocks...........both are traced...........

The sidebar is updated and if Jeanette, KateS and Teresa could check their totals as I am not sure i am right.........
If your behind schedule hope you can give it a bit of a push and catch up..........would be great if we could get all the blocks finished in August..........

AND..............
GJ girls..............get stitching............need to see some movement on the sidebar there..............some of you are so close it would be great to get some more finishes...........crack that whip...............LOL.........

Take Care and Happy Stitching...........Chookyblue

FINISHED!

I finally finished Tis The Season (Quilt #1) this morning. I have had the quilting finished on it for a few days but I just needed time to sew the binding on (so I could then spend some time on the couch!!) so I could hand sew it down. I stole some extra time this morning while my babe was sleeping and finished sewing down the hanging pocket.
I found that I hadn't quite finished stitching the star on this block! Oops! I'll have to sink the knots and finish stitching it!!
Thanks heaps to Chookyblue for running the Stitch-A-Long. I haven't finished yet though! I have 12 blocks all stitched and bordered for quilt #2. I'll have to get into that one and have it finished for myself for Christmas!! If I get that one finished on time I may just have to start something new (or finish something old!)!
Thanks girls for the motivation!

July Tis the Season SAL

Phew! Completed my July blocks! I would've posted it yesterday, but it was overcast (pics still came out darker than reality - hmmph).

11 blocks completed - 1 block and 1 stitched label to go!

Now onto Birdie Stitches!

Happy Stitchin'

4 More Blocks

This month I finished 2 more blocks and also put the borders on last month's blocks.  Just 1 more to go and then it will be ready to put together.  I have seen some wonderful colour combinations and some early finishes.  Well done to everyone.  It is so much fun stitching along with you all.  I am looking forward to our next conquest.
