Thread catchers....

several people have remarked on thread catcher making being addictive...

... especially if you have difficulty working out fabric requirements .....

...  a larger size 'scrap catcher' got made too!!!

Righto, Gotto Go... cool place to seek out.... I may be having a meltdown .....

Shoe Bags....

I started with doing the shoe bags as I was too impatient to wait for my Red Home book to arrive....

I think the bags are gorgeous... I had some scraps of 'sewing' themed fabric and some large gingham in the cupboard.. and I'm very happy with how they have turned out.....

The Red Home book has now arrived so I will be doing thread catchers too... they look so lovely and I hear they are a bit addictive????

Great to see what has already been made.. great start to the year

Righto, Gotto Go... back to the sweat shop ......

..... now the foodie in me fancies some patty cakes....

So great seeing everyone's fabrics and some great starts on SKoW
and wonderful to see so many TIS and GJ finishes

I've made a start.....

I find the planning and choosing and first cut the most stressful part of quilt making.....

Today I started slicing..... and put together the pieces for some of the blocks....

I started learning needleturn this year and usually use freezer paper but decided with all the different shapes (and the fact that I didn't have any freezer paper on hand and it's 25minutes drive to the shop and my car is in the workshop for fixing the breaks....) I am going to needle-turn.....

..... starting with the "Old Blue Jeans" since there are nice straight lines to learn with....

.... only in my fabrics I chose there is no blue.... so I will have brown floral jeans....

"Old Jeans" or "Old Comfy Jeans" or "Hippy Jeans" - open to suggestions

Some Kind of Wonderful....

I am so delighted with our new SAL book.... isn't is full of scrumptiousness?

The hardest part in a quilt to me is choosing the colours at the beginning...

I have these fabrics which I bought from a friend who was having a clean out.... I know they will all coordinate with each other.... I just need some more of the background neutrals for the applique/stitcheries.... and I will do the strips in colours ...

(they are not actually as bright as the picture looks)

and I'm not yet 100% sure on it

It's lovely meeting a few of the 'newbies' this year.... and I'm looking forward to stitching this lovely quilt and some of the extra's with friends over the next year...

'Tis Done.......

This week I have done some quilting and binding

'tis done

I used fabrics I had.... so it is a 'scrappy' Christmas hanging
bordered in a dark blue

the sashing has gold - which glitters prettily in the light

I found some old sheets vintage stripes for the backing

quilted around the blocks and a bit of fun on the borders

used the wreath block for my label
(I love the little silver reindeer)

Thanks Chookyblue... I haven't got a Christmas hanging - it will be such fun to decorate this year.

Here they all are together......

that won't be the final layout
but I can start planning....

Lovely seeing so many done.... everyone is so inspirational

Thanks Chookyblue.... great to have them all stitched

July Blocks

G'day from not sunny but very cold Queensland

These are my two blocks for July.............

It is such fun seeing everyone's work and the different colours - and I am so impressed with the finished quilts.... they look stunning .....

I'm not a fan of mices but these ones' peeping over the boots are rather cute! and I really like the partridge in a pear tree block.....
