Greetings from Finland

Hei all my SAL -friends!

This shared year has been a wonderful experience. I have got many new ideas and I have got a lot of more courage to try them in practice. It would not had happened without you, my dear stitching friends!

The year would not have been this amazing without Chookyblue and Susan... hmm... and of course... not to forget their whip swing-effects ;o)

I'm so happy that our last project is Anni's sweet Needle Book. This was a second time, when I made it... the first one I sewed last Christmas, a present to my sewing friend.
This time I made it to myself;o)
Finally I had a chance to use that GORGEOUS button, bling-bling petals with a velvety center!!!

I used a velvet also inside the needle book, the white velvet heart. And maybe you will laugh to me now, but I did it again...HEXAGONS!... this time 1/2". The stitchery I did with hand-dyed cotton by Atalie, color Peridot. As in the first time I finished the needle book with the binding. I think it's quite nice way...

I hope so SO much that we will meet again in some other time... in other SAL.
But I also understand that organizing these SALs is not an easy piecy!

I wish you all a creative, exciting and happy end of this year!!!
with hugs Satu

Using my pass

Hi there ladies, just popping in to use my pass for the August sewing bag.  The ones I have seen look amazing, but it just isn't going to happen for me now that lambing is under way.  I am still working on my July bag, and hope to change my July status to completed soon....  keep up the great work girls, and thanks to Chookyblue and Susan for pushing us along....... August Greetings from Finland!

I can't believe this is our next to last project together...
and I can't believe that I have done all SAL 2013 projects;o)
... so far...

And one thing, which makes me smile even more...
I have been able to add HEXAGONS almost in every projects ;oD

I "cheated" little with the stitcheries... I stitched only one of the patches of the bag front, because I wanted to use those sewing themed fabrics.

I surely hope that Chookyblue (& her assistant whip cracker) has enough time and strength to continue our inspiring SAL -group also in the next year!

I have DEEPLY ENJOYED EVERY MOMENT with YOU...
see you in next month!!!

with hugs Satu

Done, with days to spare!

Firstly, I just want to say 'well done' to all those finishers this month-some lovely pincushions out there!

Mine is slightly modified-my house is a little more modest, I decided to leave off the quote, and I didn't do any quilting. I enjoyed the needleturn applique, but think I prefer it when the pieces are on the larger size ;) I also loved the little hexies.

Pincushion(on time too)

Hello again, this is a first for me in a while, to be finished before the end of the month!  I was lucky enough to attend a class last month which was to make this little pincushion, perfectly timed for the Stitch-A-Long timetable, so I did have a little headstart.......

I really loved making this wee cutie...... thanks for looking,

Only 5 days..................

I just have 5 days to finish the April project.
I was so busy sewing on other projects that I didn't had
the time to work on this one.
Today, I have to go to the hospital with my son for a
check up, so I quickly draw the stitchery and I'm going
to sew in the waitingroom.

                                   Have a nice day,

Better Picture and April's Project

I posted a very blurry picture of my pincushion last week, but thought I'd put up a better one since we've got some sun today.

I've also decided to use the stitcheries I started for the quilt from TTS some...years ago that have been languishing in the WIP/UFO pile for the April project-I just have a little bit to finish on the third one.

Hopefully, I get an earlier finish for this month's project, as well as moving something out of that pile!

Stitchery done, now for the bag

There have been some wonderful bags appearing here recently.  This weekend is going to be full of lots of stitching and sewing and one of the things I want to accomplish is to finish my February Red Home bag.... there are only six more days till the deadline anyway, so it's time I got going!  Here is my stitchery completed, with a couple of changes in the trees and flowers.  This was a really fun stitch and came together a lot quicker than I thought it would.

Happy stitching everyone, I hope you have a lovely weekend stitching too.......

project January

The small basket is transformed into a small bag for my accessories.
Linen and lace outside.

I saw that the project is already well advanced in February, so we not expect?
everyone does not start at the same time?

Bye

2013 SAL........

Please read this post well before signing up.

Added: YOU DO NEED TO HAVE/BUY THE BOOKS TO JOIN IN

A little different to the previous years as nothing is grabbing me at the moment that I really want to do. BUT un/like some of you I still have things I want to do out of the books I have been working on in the last 2 years (SKofW Some Kind of Wonderful and TTS - Tis the Season). Also I have things I want to make in the Red Home book by Natalie Bird and haven't got them done yet.

So the plan for 2013
I have 2 quick projects for January to get people into the groove.
Other than that one project per month.
You can have one pass month through the year where you don't make something you can use the pass or if life is taking your sewing time you can use the pass.
I have tried to include a few challenges like hexagons, zippers and the usual appliqué and stitchery.

As I commit my time to running the Stitch-a-long you need to commit to the SAL too.

  • ·        You must get the project done in the month allocated.
  • ·        You must post on the SAL blog at least once a month with a photo of your project.
  • ·        No I am not swapping projects around or substituting other projects. Just too confusing with a group. If the plan doesn’t suit then don’t sign up.
  • ·        If you are going to use your one pass you must do a post on the blog to let me know
  • ·        If you don’t get the month done you may be removed from the group. It is only fair for everyone to keep up and stay committed. If you don’t want to stitch with the group and post and participate then don’t join.
  • ·        For those new to the group I update the sidebar as I comment on your post.
  • ·        Each month will be marked off by the letter of the month unless you have used your pass (P).
  • ·        Comments can’t be emailed out to everyone so when you do a post on the blog do a comment straight away and tick the box “email follow up comments to” (your email address should be here) and everyone’s comments will go to your email account but they will all be “no reply”
  • ·        If you were a member of the 2012 SAL you must have your quilt to the top stage or better still finished.
  • ·        You must have a blog

So here is the plan............2013

Jan - Red Home Thread Catcher Fabric Baskets pg 38
            and/or
Some Kind of Wonderful Shoe Bag pg 68
Feb - Red Home True Friends Tote Bag pg 26
Mar - SKofW Pincushion pg 28
Apr - TTS Bon Noel Wallhanging pg 15
May - SKofW Bag pg 56 (stitchery optional)
Jun - Red Home Little House Pincushion pg 34
Jul - TTS  Chilly Penguin's Hexagon Bag pg 8 (stitchery optional)
Aug - SKofW Sewing Case pg 20
Sep - SKofW Needle Book pg 24

Now about the Thread Catchers for January which are pretty quick and super cute........
I have used Vilene H640 and H630 pellon (iron-on)
H640 I would say is thick and H630 thin.
I can't really see any difference in the little thread catchers ie holding shape etc but it was easier to sew with the thinner pellon.
cute aren't they...........addictive too...........
So if anyone still wants to join me after reading all that - sign up is by leaving a comment on this post and make sure I can reply to you..........
Then I will send you an invite for the group blog............
Keep Stitching............
Chookyblue...........
PS if you could include a link to your blog in the comment that would be great too........ta

end of 2012.......

As Christmas is over and the end of the year draws near I do hope this pushes you along to meet your final goals.

I will be clearing the slate so to speak at the end of the month so if you would like to share your progress before I do that then jump in quick and share a post.
What I will do after that is when you are ready to do a post i will keep some spots free for the stragglers and give you membership to the blog and you can do your post then off again.

But I have finally made the decision on 2013. Yes I will be going ahead with 2013. I hear a big sigh of relief from you all....... I'm pretty sure my assistant "whip cracker" will come on board again and back me up when things get a little busy. Not that I have heard from her yet BUT I have just sent out an email to the 24 SAL girls on the sidebar who finished the 2012 SAL.
2 have just responded with a yes so I think they like the plan.

I won't share it here yet but I will on Jan 1. So if you want to join in get stitching on your old SAL's.

Come on Nicky do we have a bound GJ yet?????

2013 will be much more achievable then 2012.

Keep Stitching......
Chookyblue............
