Still January 30th in Canada!

...and I have completed my January stitchery.  Like a few others, I haven't decided what to do with it so I will keep on pondering!

I really enjoyed doing this one.  I used a frixon pen for the first time and I liked how the ironing took out the leftover lines.  I even put it in the cold but the lines did not reappear.  Does anyone wlse use the frixon pens?

I made a decision for my background fabrics...blues....light blues with "petite" designs:
I need to get some light pinks but I have enough for starters, from my stash!  I hope to get started this week-end!

I am really enjoying all the posts! It is neat to see the choices and sharing!

January stitched.

Hello. My stitchery is done but it isn't made into anything yet. I do have a plan which involves my sewing machine, which is packed away for the moment. Just a few more days I think.

I have been working on choosing my fabrics for the quilt. I do intend using my stash so I have to go with the colours I find there. I was looking for a more blue selection but my neutrals have more of a greenish tint so that will be it. Last year (I think it was May) a group of us went on a road trip up to Lynnette Anderson's shop and a friend and I decided to share a fat quarter bundle. We cut them into 1/8 ths and I think they should be just right. I have also found some extra bits from my stash to go with them.

On the same day we visited a fabric discount store where they were selling Anni's range of fabric called Love to Garden, which I couldn't leave there even though I didn't have a plan then. I have pulled those out as well and they will be my guide for colour selection. I know there is plenty in my stash to add to this.

So now I have some preparation to do in getting my applique ready.

Yeah I'm posting ..........

After a little confusion my first post in SAL2015, thanks to Chooky for her patients.

I am so excited to be involved in the SAL this year as I love meeting new friends and especially love Annie's new quilt Natures Journey. I was fortunate enough to see Natures Garden when it wasn't completely quilted, I just had to do it.

I have been stitching Annie's Christmas stitchery, I used Cottage Garden variegated threads.  I love using these threads they always make your work come to life and the colours are so amazing.

Until next time, happy stitching............

Just in time!

Here in Sweden we have a whole day before February comes along.
I finished the Christmas stitchery into a mini, and am quite pleased with it, love the colours!

passed my exams ...

..... Passed my exams!

Stitching madly!

January has almost finished...and so have I!

Hello! My name is Susan (aka suzitee) and I've participated in a few of the SALs in the past...A Gardeners Journal,  the Christmas one (WHAT WAS THAT ONE CALLED AGAIN?) and Some Kind of Wonderful....all finished and in use :)

I didn't sew along with the smaller projects...I'm more a BIG project kind of gal :) so I'm very excited to be stitching Anni's new pattern along with you all.

I haven't quite finished the stitchery yet...

...but it's the weekend, so anything is possible!

My pattern for Natures Journey arrived a while back, and I'm still deciding on colours...possibly overthinking it a bit! I'm swaying between a Flower Sugar version, and a Bonnie and Camille inspired version, using scraps from many of their collections. Either way, I'll be using lots of white, tone-on-tone prints for the background, along with some low volume prints.

I'm so excited to be participating in this group again...there is nothing like encouragement and whip-cracking to keep me on task :)

Best get back to my stitching!

Finished in Time!

My January project is finished!....

...and I think this will be my final fabric selection.... a couple of the main blues have been purchased but the rest is from my stash......

I've been working (very slowly) on Gossip in the Garden - fabrics also from my stash - and am using brighter fabrics for that so thought I'd go for more "subdued" colours for NJ though a couple of fabrics are being used in both..... this coming weekend will be spent getting everything ready for the stitching to begin!!!

Happy Stitching

Decisions, Decisions

I have been playing with fabrics for the  Natures Journey SAL.

Now I  think I have  finally  decided on  these thirties  style fabrics and the  background  will be either this cream or white.

Originally I  thought I would  be using Tilda, but have changed  my mind! I have some other scraps of thirties  prints that I  will more than likely  incorporate  as well.

I would welcome  any feedback,  please.

Do you think it would be ok to have the background  all the same colour,  eg the cream or white.

Hugs

Sharon

Hooray!

Finally my pattern arrived!
I'm Carin from Sweden and my blog is Ullhärvan. This will be my first SAL here even if I've been following you from behind. I'm so excited, it's a beautiful quilt we're doing!
I've finished the January stitchery, but can't decide if I want it to be a cushion or a mini quilt. Decisions, decisions! Not many days left of the month now.

I'm in ---- twice

Puh,now I'm in too...twice.
Dear Grethe offred me to borrow her pattern as long as I needed it. So I could start making plans with fabrics and so on.
So we meet for a cup of cofee,Latte of'course, and a nice talk.
I had a hope that mine pattern would be in mail back home...but to get started if the mail man realy need my pattern, it was a grat offer. So thank you Grethe.
As you can see My pattern was at home waiting for me,and to day I has been looking for ligth fabrics with blue in it... And I did found some... So no I'm ready for February!

January Stitchery

Finally, I'm at my computer (not the iPad) and the photos have been downloaded and I can post a picture of the Anni Downes' stitchery we are completing for the January project in the SAL.

I haven't finished it yet - as in make it into something, but the stitching is done.  I was intending to use the traditional Christmas Colours of Red and/or green, but I stumbled across this one in a LQS and I liked it so much, I instantly decided to use it in this stitchery.  Surprisingly (well, maybe not!) I have some Christmas fabric in just these colours.

This is it:

It's a Cosmo thread - variegated pink and blue.  I really like it - but I'm still tempted to make another with the red thread.  A traditional Christmas girl at heart.

I've gone with the BoM option with Nature's Journey - very excited to get my first package - which should be very soon.  Love Anni's fabrics and the choices she makes for her quilts.

Finally....

breathe in ...breathe out... so i panic...  but finally it arrived...thank you Chooky for your calm and wise  words ...
now i must go to the fabric shop for some backgrounds , nothing much....

My January project is done and i even put in on my door .... christmas is when we
want....

Stitching Complete

Hello my friends.
So pleased to join in with this years SAL.
I thought that I would have had my cushion made but have run out of time.
My Mum had surgery to remove cancer from her left wrist,
so my turn to help her now she is home.
I`m to stay with her for a few days and leave in the morning.

My finished `Christmas Wishes` stitching.
The colours I used where:
Sampler threads Old Red Paint for surround, tree trunks and her legs.
Cottage Garden Thread Dandelion for stars plus crosses.
High Country for trees and frame round wording and collar.
Auriril # 12 2260 for colonial knots on dress, shoes, hat and arms.
Weeks Dye Works Bluecoat Red for dress.

I have put a peek a boo border first then
a red star print and finally the stripe.

The piping will add the final touch to my cushion.
This I will show completed at next posting.
I have my `Natures Journey` pattern
and looking though my fabrics
ready to start when come home again.

Am I in front yet….

Two blocks done….does this make me in front…..LOL…….

Question

Hi everyone,
I am awaiting my pattern but I thought if I knew a little about the project, I could make a start in the meantime. Can someone tell me if the patchwork squares are 2 inches X 2 inches? I could maybe cut out some of those. Also, exactly what is the stitching in February's section.
I finished the stitching on January's project today and will be getting started on making it into something else soon.

January finish and some fabric!

Here is my Xmas Wishes finished...I have made it into a hanging ornament, apologies that I haven't photographed the back to show the pretty fabric, but believe me it is there! Very happy to have one project finished. I do love stitchery.
I've also been shopping (of course) and here are the fabrics I have so far for Natures Journey. Am looking forward to this one, with the small blocks it looks like it will be very achievable.
Was having some problems with my blog, just found Chookyblues fantastic tips and tutorials over on her blog. So now I have the SAL button! Thanks Chooky!
Great to be joining in with you all.

January Finish

After a quick start, I managed a slow finish, hope to improve next month. Now onto February's commitment.....

I made mine into a mini wall hanging, now to find a hanger in my stash....somewhere lol
Happy Stítching
Deb

Start and a Finish - FlowerandLinen

So I initially thought I would make a candle mat but I then changed my mind to a little wall hanging.

I was really happy with it as it was done using scraps. Scraps of thread, batting pieces sewn together, left over strips from my Tis the Season quilt, and left over binding. Oh and two bits of backing fabric sewn together.

I went through a large part of my stash and decided on a pink and green theme for  my Nature's Journey quilt - relatively in tune with natural colours. (or so I think now).

My intention is to incorporate these beautiful scraps (below), given to me by Aunty. Such delicate and pretty fabrics. She is a gifted sewer and wonderful person. She has lived alone in the country for ten years and I periodically send her photos of my projects with an explanation on the back of the photographs. Sadly she has just gone in to palliative care the other day.

So more fabric in the tub to choose from.

Hoping to prep my first couple of blocks tonight.

Happy Stitching All
