May Blocks

Here are my May blocks, and the June ones are under way. This had a bit of a problem as I wasn't happy with the first flower blocks I did. So I redid them, and it took a bit longer.

Congratulations to everyone for their beautiful blocks. There are going to be some beautiful quilts when we were done.

April Blocks

Here are April blocks. Just a little late because when I got them out to photograph I realised that I had left two leaves off. I am looking forward to the May blocks - I already have one done.

I love seeing everyone's versions.

March completed.

Here's the March blocks. All trimming will be done when it is time to sew. I suppose that I should say all ironing will be done then too.

April blocks are coming soon.

February stitching

The stitching was done but I hadn't taken the photo. I feel like I've been running the kids around all weekend and I have only just now had a chance to do my show and tell. The blocks are not trimmed yet so there are a few threads here and there. Now to keep up to date each month.

January stitched.

Hello. My stitchery is done but it isn't made into anything yet. I do have a plan which involves my sewing machine, which is packed away for the moment. Just a few more days I think.

I have been working on choosing my fabrics for the quilt. I do intend using my stash so I have to go with the colours I find there. I was looking for a more blue selection but my neutrals have more of a greenish tint so that will be it. Last year (I think it was May) a group of us went on a road trip up to Lynnette Anderson's shop and a friend and I decided to share a fat quarter bundle. We cut them into 1/8 ths and I think they should be just right. I have also found some extra bits from my stash to go with them.

On the same day we visited a fabric discount store where they were selling Anni's range of fabric called Love to Garden, which I couldn't leave there even though I didn't have a plan then. I have pulled those out as well and they will be my guide for colour selection. I know there is plenty in my stash to add to this.

So now I have some preparation to do in getting my applique ready.

Hello

My name is Lynda (bettsylyn) and I live in Queensland Australia. I've been around with this group for a while but not always finishing things.

I see a few people commenting about what fabrics to use for this quilt, and what amounts. I wanted to comment not to stress about using your stash. I have been working on the previous Anni Downs Quilt - Gossip in the Garden. The picture I have included here is not my quilt. This quilt is a quilt by a friend of mine. She made it as a gift for a special friend. Just about every fabric came from her stash, there was no major theme except that she wanted to make it for a friend who liked blue.

If you want to use your stash, just pick out fabrics, fat quarters, colours you like. It will work.

I am still working on mine and will post pictures in a little while. I have done most of the handwork but need to do some machine sewing to get it together.

I have really enjoyed making this quilt so am looking forward to the new one.
