There's room for improvement with my needle turn but I'm enjoying it.  Thanks Chooky :o)

February Procrastination

As usual… I'm dragging the chain!

I actually can't decide what to do!

As I thought I'd like a retro effect… I thought I'd put ric rac circles around my appliqué.
I found a lovely linen ric rac..but now think it looks too heavy.. Also I bought all they had.. now I don't think there will be enough for the small squares  :(

Then I found a lovely small blue ric rac…. stitched it on with grey thread… and it looks too solid!! even when I use blue thread… you can't see the little waves….

I'm loving everyone else's work… do you think I should give up and blanket stitch????

I've also just had cataract surgery on my right eye last Thursday…(and the left eye 4weeks ago) so seeing anything close up is a little frustrating at the moment!!..

Does this mean I can get an extension Chooky???? PLEASE?????

Cheers Lea

Nearly finished February blocks

Hi everyone. Just letting you know I'm still on the planet and working on my February Blocks. My son hurt his shoulder at a swim meet and my father had some exploratory surgery. All good on both counts but it's taken me away from sewing.

I took the blocks with me when my father went I to hospital and worked on them between hospital visits. The hospital is over an hour away and as my father doesn't cope well with hospital stays, we need to visit twice a day. So my mother and I go down and stay near the hospital.

I don't have photos yet. Hope to have that done in the next day or so.

My father is going in for a longer hospital stay next week so life will get a little busy this week preparing to go, but I'm hoping to be very close to finished if not finished by the time I go.

Depending on how things go with my father and when the next block arrives from Anni, I'm hoping to be working on March's blocks while I'm away.

Life is a juggle - as always.

February Blocks Finished ..... Fiona H

I have had fun stitching my February blocks for the Stitch A Long ..... I LOVED getting the Block of the Month package from Anni at Hatched and Patched as I do love her fabrics ....

I have changed a couple of the little blocks and made them additional hearts because I liked the hearts better than the square in the pattern .... as usual I always seem to change something ....

I am enjoying seeing everyone's finishes .... they all look so different and lovely !  Great stitching everyone !!   Fiona  @Peaceful Threads

Applique Blocks for February

Truly can't believe I'm on time.....I generally don't start this way at all.

Am thoroughly enjoying this so far. I'm using special scraps from my Aunt who passed away two weeks ago so it will be lovely to remember her by.

Some wonky shapes in there but all part of the journey. And now to start March.

Happy Stitching

February done

Finished my blocks for February. I love them. So much fun! Lori from Leaskdale, Ontario, Canada

February's done!

Well, I guess that one of the perks of not being able to sleep at night could be to make the final stitches on the February blocks at about 2AM last night/this morning.

And that with 8 days to go! Not bad. I wonder if I'll be able to keep up for the next months too.

February's all done!
I have to confess, I have started to prepare the blocks for March - only cutting and drawing so far, but still, it's a start.

Here in Oslo it's a beautiful day, blue skies, sunny and about 10 Celsius outside (or, 15, as the thermostat suggests, but with the sun shining directly on it I think it's a bit off).

Have a nice weekend, everybody!

Hello Part One!

After MUCH procrastination over fabric selection, and then even more delays choosing threads, I finally made a start on Part One of our lovely new stitchalong.

I started with a layer cake of Miss Kate by Bonnie and Camille, and built on my fabric selections from there. As a lot of my projects do, it morphed into a combination of red, aqua, pink and apple green, with a little burnt orange and navy thrown in for good measure :)

Was it wishful thinking to stitch "2015" do you think?

My outline stitching is all done in DMC 803, which I'm going to have to stock up on! I've used almost a whole skein just on Part One....yikes!

Feels great to be up-to-date...maybe now I can put together a project featuring my Christmas stitchery? I really have no idea what to make with it...a cushion perhaps? A gift bag? Or maybe use it as a centrepiece for a tablerunner? Best get my thinking cap on!

February Complete

I finally completed  February's  blocks! After much umming and arhing, I  settled on Suffolk Puffs (Yoyos), instead of the circles!

I chose Cottage Garden threads for the embroderiory used in February  blocks. The colours I selected  are:-
1201 Snapdragon
503 Peacock
1001 Red Carnation
605 Cherry Blossom
710 Farmers Market.

This was my first time undertaking  needle turn appliqué,  once I got the  hang of it, I  began to relax a little. Though it requires vast  improvement,  I am  reasonablely happy with the blocks.

Now to get rady for work. Hugs Sharon

Finish

I hope you all had a nice carnival day....
My blocks are done

I´m trying to do this project with apliquick , for the tiny ones is a very god help but the round ones...  I struggle a bit with the fabric and at the end is a "squaround" thing ... i certainly will redo one or two.

February blocks done....

These are my February blocks

I have been doing the applique in needleturn.... which takes me quite a while... my basket handle is a bit wonky....but I will leave that to add to the character of my quilt!!!

The blocks have been trimmed to size now and are safely in their little plastic container waiting for the March ones..........

It's been great to see all the different versions ... they are coming along well - and the encouragement is wonderful too

Update on February

I've completed February's blocks except for washing off the pencil markings and sizing them. I decided to leave the circles out of the centers of the large blocks just because they proved so difficult for me. All of my applique is done with pinks and reds and the embroidery with red thread.

hey.......

How is everyone going................
I have not had a chance to start yet...........an urgent family trip away, a trip with Mr Chooky to do some work for a mate.......and just life and work in general means I have not even had time to get started on February's blocks.........I should be working on that instead I am designing and planning a kitchen which I have to install within the next month........looking at the calendar i'm not sure where that is even going to be fitted in............oh well nothing like a challenge...........
so I thought I needed to pop in and see what you girls are up too..............not too many finished the month yet..........and don't panic we still have plenty of time even if Feb is the shortest month of the year.............
Happy Stitching
