April Greetings From Finland!

Hello all my SAL friends!

I have seen many BeaUTiFuL and impressive wall hangings during this month at our blog!
Today
I'm happy to show you my version of Bon Noel ;o)

Here is those three stitchery patterns, which I chose.
And yes ;o) I made few changes - again!!!
My birdies welcome Bon Noel sitting in their Christmas tree. Maybe they are right now decorating it?!?

An angel has an appliqued star in her hands. And I used - as many of us - more color in stitcheries: different kind of reds, yellows greens and grays...

When I thought of the fabrics I noticed that this pattern is 5" x 5" charm friendly.
You'll need only 8 charm pieces for this top.
 Isn't it nice?
I used fabrics of Basic Grey's 'Blitzen' collection.

I hope you all enjoy this project as much as I did...
now toward May!
Can you believe May is soon here? It's horrific how time flies...

wishing you a creative stitching time

My French General Bag

Well most of the fabric is French General. I am gifting this bag to a friend. Better late than never in completing and I've actually finished it on her birthday.

My little model.

Better late than never - right?

Bon Noel Wallhanging

All done!  Nice & early.
First time I have tried Prairie Points - so just reinforces that maxim I mentioned last month - you can learn something from every quilt/project that you make.

Cute April project

I thought this wallhanging would take much longer to do, but with the stitcheries traced out and sitting by my chair for night time stitching they were finished quite quickly.  The assembly takes just a short time once the little pieces are cut out, resulting in an early finish this month.  The most difficult part was finding enough red fabrics to add the borders.  I could have used a different colour but decided early on to go with the red look.

I have added a little colour to each of the stitcheries to add interest.

A finish

I completed this a couple of days ago but have been traveling backwards and forwards to the coastal country over the last four days. Girls wanted to stay longer with nanny and pa, then one wanted to come home and the other stayed, off to collect again tomorrow.......

I drew this stitchery freehand onto the fabric as I couldn't trace the design with the darker background. Consequently, I didn't measure it properly so it is a little higher/taller than it should be.

I love the sewing machine

And I couldn't resist this fabric for the bottom

Now to think about April's challenge.......oh dear..........

Happy Stitching, Susie

Bon Noel - April

Started stitching this one last night and have assembled it today.
It is great to have a quick finish.

Have a great day,
hugs, Sharon

Better Picture and April's Project

I posted a very blurry picture of my pincushion last week, but thought I'd put up a better one since we've got some sun today.

I've also decided to use the stitcheries I started for the quilt from TTS some...years ago that have been languishing in the WIP/UFO pile for the April project-I just have a little bit to finish on the third one.

Hopefully, I get an earlier finish for this month's project, as well as moving something out of that pile!

April project

Today I took advantage of the sale at Nellies Patchwork Shop. They have 40% off a wide range of fabrics.

I bought my fabric for my Bon Noel Wallhanging. Now I only have to cut and sew it all together.

A Good Start For Me!

Hello!  :)

I may have just finished my pincushion on March 30th, but I've already stitched my 3 pieces for this month's project and it's only April 1st!

That's definitely an unusual thing for me. Lol!  ;)  Hopefully I'll be able to keep the momentum going and get the wallhanging finished sooner rather than later.  ;)

Until next time . . .

MaKinG a StaRT

I have made a start on April's commitment. It may only be by finishing one of the stitcheries... but as I said... it's a start...

March Pincushion

I have finished my pincushion but with a house full of family and the events of the past week I have only got to downloading my photos this evening .... I changed it a bit as I usually do ... added a button and used a printed fabric rather than piece the top and bottom .... thank you to all of you who have sent messages of support over the past 10 days following the loss of my father in law .... they were greatly appreciated and showed me what a wonderfully caring group of ladies I call my blogging friends .... thankyou ..... April SAL Finish

I see that there were a few of us who got busy stitching over Easter and took advantage of having a few days off to finish the Bon Noel wallhanging.  Think I will need the extra time to tackle May's bag, as I'm thinking the zip may challenge me.
I must admit I did take the easy way out and used just the one fabric for the sashings and borders. Cheryl

It's good to be a bit ahead

I have finished my April item.

Not one but two!

Who's an April Fool? It must be me because I thought it was still March. And sometimes I think taking photos seems to take as much time as the making of the item. ( Photography is not my strong point) Still my March project is done and posted.
I cut into some of my stash of Annie's fabric and matched some of the stitched images with the fussy cut squares on the top. I think I will do this again when I make the next Annie project.
Also I ended up hand stitching in the circles. I did try to use the sewing machine but did such a bad job that I decided that I preferred the better accuracy of hand stitching. Did anyone else find this ?

In time

It's 23 h 45 and I just finished my pincushion!!!
I began in the beginning of the month and then
there came other things to do. This evening I
realized that I had to finish my pincushion.
I already made the stitchery so I didn't have
to much to do.
Next week I'm going to start the project for
the month of April.
Good luck to all of you for the next project!!!!

                                          Love,
                                         Martine

April SAL

All done!
