It's a finish! :0)

Today I finished my Gardener's Journal quilt! It's hard to believe I started out with this...

...and ended up with this!

I even used jelly roll strips to piece part of the backing. The rest was a scrap of fabric I had in my stash. And I used jelly roll strips to piece the binding too!

And this is all that's left...five jelly roll strips that I'm sure I'll find a use for in one of my future projects! Thanks so much Chookyblue for organizing the stitch along. It was just what I needed to get this project started...and finished! :0)

A finished top

I managed to get some sewing done today, and I'm happy to report that my Gardener's Journal top is now finished! I just pieced the border out of strips and ran them around the quilt. I had done my Polka Dot Girls quilt this way and it really seemed to work with the scrappy look of the rest of the quilt. So now it's on to making the back and getting this one sandwiched and quilted! But that will have to wait until tomorrow! :0)

Last one - Block H

Well here it is...the last block of my Gardener's Journal quilt. The blocks are now all sewn together and I'll be working on adding borders next. The blocks and the quilt really are square...the photo just makes them look crooked for some reason! :0)

Block I - Just a little late

I actually did some sewing today! Seems like it's been forever, but life has just been busy and the sewing had to wait. So what did I do today? I got the next to the last of my Gardener's Journal blocks put together! It looks crooked but that's just how it was hanging on the design wall.

And here it is pinned up next to the rest of the blocks, which I've already sewn together. So one more block to get done this month, then I can decide on borders! :0)

Block B is finished! :0)

It seems like I've been working on these Gardener's Journal blocks for a long time. But I'm definitely making progress! I have another block done, and before the end of the month too! This is block B, and then you can see all the blocks I've done so far sewn together. Only two more blocks to go and I can add borders! :0)

Just in time

Here it is...block A of my Gardener's Journal quilt, finished just in time to meet my monthly goal! Only three more blocks to go! :0)

Block E is done! :0)

I just finished another block of my Gardener's Journal. This is block E and it's my fifth block. Only four more to go! :0)

I'm making progress! :0)

I'm so happy I've been able to keep up with this stitch-along. I've just finished block C. I sort of cheated on this block a bit, or you might say I just made the block my own. I was looking at the roof of the house and thought to myself...what if I only did every other line on the roof? Would it look OK? And then I wondered if it might be OK to just do every other fence post. So that's what I did an I'm really happy with how it came out. I think it looks less busy this way, and it saved me a lot of time stitching too.

And here are blocks C and D sewn together.

And blocks C, D, F and G laid out together. I'm really pleased with how this is starting to look! :0)

Block D is finished! :0)

It's been fun stitching these blocks and I've been able to keep up with the one a month plan so that's good. I was worried about getting this one finished on time and now it's done with a week to spare! This is block D. I'm doing them out of order because I have to make them fit together as I'm not following the pattern.

Block F is finished! :0)

Here's a just in the nick of time finish! My block F of the Gardener's Journal is done. The sewing together of these always takes me a while because I'm not following the directions exactly. OK, I'm not following the directions at all! LOL But it's done now and that's all that matters! :0)


And here are blocks F and G sewn together. I have to look at the pattern to see what block I'm going to stitch next. Hopefully I can get started on that tomorrow.

I'm happy to say that I've gotten a block done for my Gardener's Journal quilt. I'm using a jelly roll and I've made my stitchery blocks a bit bigger, so it's been an adventure figuring things out. But I like it and I can't wait to get started on my next block! :0)

First of all I want to say thank you to Chookyblue for allowing me to join this lovely group and for setting up this blog so we can all stay motivated to get this project done! And thanks to Peg and several other ladies for encouraging me to jump right in even though I have so many other things I ought to be working on instead of starting something new. But start I did so here we go! :0)


I went to the fabric store on Thursday to find something to use for the stitcheries. I found some Kona muslin and decided that would have to do. So Friday I got the first little stitchery traced and stitched! I have the second one traced but haven't started stitching yet. I had pulled out some fabrics from my stash to use for this project, but now I think I'm going to try to use a jelly roll instead. This is American Primer and I just love the colors in it. So we'll see how well this plan works when I actually start trying to sew together blocks! I don't think that will be anytime soon though! I've got a long way to go! LOL
