I haven't decided if I will add the hearts to this block or just leave it as is.
Being such a keen starter, I stitched up the first block of Tis the Season this week. I've loved seeing all the different fabric choices everyone has made. Here is what I'm going with, pinks and reds by French General. I'm stitching with variegated DMC 115.
After reading a lot of posts about how tight it is to get the border centred in the finished block, I think I'll make my centre blocks 1/2" bigger than the original design.

Hi Nicky, I really like the varigated thread - you can see the impact of it up close. Will also look wonderful from faraway too. I love the stitchery fabric, is it beige with white spot? I looked for something similar but couldn't find it pale enough in colour that is wasn't a distration. Look forward to keep up with your progress. Susie
Hi - I'm using the same thread... your stitches are SOOOOOO NEAT.... love your colours and I think it is a good idea to keep the fabric bigger... wish I had done that...
