9 Blocks for my second quilt

At the Friday Night Sew In I worked on my second quilt for 'Tis the Season.  Unfortunately, I ran out of the variegated thread I'm using, so luckily, The Gardener's Journal Blocks were on hand.  Progress so far:

I love the background for this one.  Fabric from Homespun and Beautiful.  I think it adds so much interest, but it's still background.

Completed blocks for my second quilt - hoping they stand out a little more with borders.  Haven't even looked at fabric for this yet - have to raid my stash.  Hoping to get some time this week.

Work in progress on The Gardener's Journal Quilt.  The two blocks in the middle of the photo have been completed.

The centre block from the quilt.  This is another part of my work for the Friday Night Sew In.

Some progress - just very slow!!

It's A Top...

After living with the sewn blocks pinned up on the wall for a couple of weeks, waiting for what to do about borders to come to me, my TTS is now a top...
I added a 1/2" inner border to bring the gold into the borders, break up the busyness of the two fabrics and eliminate the prospect of blo blending into the Next decision will be what colour thread to use for quilting...will have to live with the top for a while until it makes a decision on what it should be...

July Blocks

G'day from not sunny but very cold Queensland

These are my two blocks for July.............

It is such fun seeing everyone's work and the different colours - and I am so impressed with the finished quilts.... they look stunning .....

I'm not a fan of mices but these ones' peeping over the boots are rather cute! and I really like the partridge in a pear tree block.....

I'm finished too!

I'm finished too.....
machine quilted by stitching in the ditch. I love the reds and pinks together.
Chooky, now I'll get back to completing Gardener's Journal.

A Finish!

I got the binding sewn down a few days ago. I love that it is finished but I really wish I would have re-thought the red sashing. The stitching was so fun and easy that I may have to make it again to get it right.

Happy Stitching!!!

I've done it!! Well almost.................

Hello All, this is my first post of any completed block but I've gone ahead and done them all! I started putting the blocks together, mucked up one and un-picked it. Then mucked up another (but left that one).

I have miraculously had time to get out my rotary cutter, cut this gorgeous fabric and use my new sewing machine with only one child out of three at home for the last two days. It's amazing how much I eventually achieved. (well for me anyway - but I have missed my girls!).

I really had no idea what the outcome would be with the fabric but had confidence in the colour combination as did the fabric designer (obviously!). Now to border and bind.

Happy Stitching, everyone. I love seeing your progress!!
Thanks
Susie

A Finish....Yeah!!

I was given the pleasure of quilting Lynda's quilt

Lynda from (AussieNeedleNut) has done a fantastic job on this quilt her stitching is
beautiful, she has kindly let me put this up as she has
given up on blogging (technical issues).

I quilted what I call hodge podge all over, meandering between
the stitcheries and then a feathered border.

You can see the border better in this shot.

So heres hoping Lynda loves my quilting, she hasn't seen it
yet as DH and I are heading to the country to
deliver it this weekend.

She has told me its OK to post so she can get a sneak peak.

So now I will get on and quilt mine and hopefully soon I can post
my finish...yeah!!!

Happy Stitching!

Nancy's Tis The Season Stitch Along...

Hi Chooky,

     Boy, I am so slow!
But here are the first three blocks finished. I had them finished three weeks ago, except for the last two letters stitched on Bon Noel, but came to a screeching halt with the warm weather, outside activities and health issues.
Anyway, they are finally finished and I have started on April's blocks, hopefully I will work faster now.
I keep getting distracted by another project, "Ice Cream Sundae" from Paula Stoddards book 'Hooked on Fats 2'.
This isn't a very good picture (shows just six of the twelve blocks I have ready), but this is one of those projects that has been ready to put together for a long time and now it is SCREAMING at me...I can hear it all the way upstairs *sigh*. UFO's don't usually bother me but this one is really getting under my skin.  Anyone else have those kind of projects?
Well, forgive me for working at a snails pace, I plan to stitch the rest of the afternoon and evening away so I'm off, needle in hand.
         Big Hugs,
            Nancy
OH...Now you can mark me for three finished blocks (I'm really tired of looking at that '1', LOL).

June blocks

Elfin Sleigh

Santa's boots
I've had the flu or a cold or a mixture of both, still not a 100% but I have finally finished last months blocks and already started this months. Sitting under a quilt watching TV is a good way to look after myself. I have also traced the Christmas angel in 3 different sizes to make small pillows as on page 32. They are being stitched in variegated yellow stranded cotton and made into pillows for Lily for Christmas.

Belated April Blocks

I hve finished stitching my April blocks for "Tis the Season"

"Christmas Reindeer"

"Santa and the Christmas Goose"
Only 3 months to go to catch up...."Sigh"
Until next time, Happy Stitching

Christmas In July

I picked up my copy of Australian Homespun "Christmas In July" this afternoon and I just had to share. Look at the beautiful wall hanging on the front. It's the 1st part of a 3 part series, Merry and Bright by Natalie Bird. Would this look great with our latest Stitch-A-Long

This may have to wait for next christmas for me....

There's slow and steady...

..and then there is just slow.
I thought I would be able to keep up with the schedule for Tis the Season but, alas, I hit a snag early on and progress has been slower than intended- a little embarrassing especially when I see how many of you are putting yours together now. I will have to get a move on but in the meantime here are 4 of my completed stitcheries (a quick photo )
I have decided to leave the borders until I finish all the stitcheries as I am unsure of how I want to finish them.

I am still here....

Hi Everyone, I have made a conscious effort today to try and catch up......I have now done 7 blocks....loving everybody's efforts they are all so different......

Just the borders

I have finished all my  T T S blocks joined them together and have just the borders to put on sorry I don't have a pic as yet but will get one when I get the border on it,
Great to see all the quilts coming together girls what a varied lot they are too

sorry no pics...........

I've been playing around sorting out the blog.............updating the sidebar etc........emailed a few people to see if they are making any progress..............finding my way around in the new look blogger dashboard.......sent a few feedbacks re the new style....(any issues send feedback - from the dashboard click on the wheel/cog in the top right corner)

.....for people who manage a group blog it isn't so good on that page as in telling you how many people are members now and to add people it doesn't look like you can get into your email contacts from there either.............

Just discovered that the SAL blog was changed to only people who were members or something like that to view so I have changed it back to "anyone"..........sorry if you haven't been able to look.............

Hope to get some more blocks traced today..........
cloudy and drab here so will stay chilly again...........

Great to see all the fantastic progress.......
.....a few of the other projects from the book popping up and they look great.......

aNd if your a bit behind..............get moving i'm cracking the whip....I want to see progress on the TTS and for those on the GJ bust a move..........not long til the end now...........

off to crack the whip on my own SAL.......
Happy stitching............Chookyblue
