The final three

Just scrapped it in again here are my last three March blocks ....Have had fun catching up on a few shows while hand stitching :))

March Done and Dusted

There's nothing like leaving things to the last minute....well with nearly an hour and a half to spare.

We've just had 10 days away and I managed to finish the blanket stitching for March while we were away.  I even completed a couple of circles towards April - Bonus!

We returned home on Sunday afternoon, and after quickly unpacking it was applique time.  I was able to get them all finished that evening, thank goodness.

Once again, the fabrics were from my tiny scraps.  The darker of the large stars was from a charm square that had come on a jar of home made jam, so lots of different stories to go with it.

Thanks so much Chooky and Susan for keeping us on the straight and narrow.  Your whip cracking is really appreciated, as this is the only way that I will commit to completing a project of this scale.

Chooky, I do hope you find the time to get caught up.  I'd be scared of Susan's whip.

Cheers

Janice

Not there Yet

Oh girls, I am still not there yet but I am trying hard. Had a long phone conversation with Chooky last night ...had her on loud speaker ..... I was stitching... 2 and a half small blanket stitched circles during that conversation.

I thought I would get more done tonight but end of term school assessment has jumped in the way.  I call it "an affair with the red pen."

I have prepared the bases for the next lot though and selected my fabrics.

One thing I am very pleased with is the new appliqué paper suggested to us by Lynette Anderson.
Her appliqué tools are also really helpful after you get a little practice with them. I am finally feeling that I can needle turn a very good circle. I won't say perfect yet..

This is where I am up to

Not quite finished

February finished

The tools

The Circle

Great support for your appliqué shape and you don't have to remove it.. stays in the quilt

Back to my chair, my favourite stitching place....bit of TV and nice cup of coffee..... Cheers everyone.

All done for March

I sat up last night finishing off my blocks and here they are

thanks Chooky for keeping us on the straight and narrow :)

NJ Part 1 finished

Hi all,

I started just a few days ago. I finished my first part this evening (we had our monthly patchwork meeting on sunday and I did a lot of sewing! :). I was having a lot of fun doing the stitching and applique. I love the blanket stitch, it's done so quickly. I was wondering if I should put a stabilizer on the fabric for the stitching. The yarn tugs at the fabric and pulls it a little bit together. Finally, I decided against it because I like the way the stitches are creating a 3D frame for the applique pieces.

Finished - just in time!

Hi Ladies,

Finished March blocks tonight.... with one day to spare... did these in two weeks with interruptions and the start of a new job.. so am pleased with myself.  Getting better with the applique all the time but still need to work on smoothing out my curves a little more.  Chooky can you please also mark me down for January as I did post a pic about my completed stitchery in my February post.  Ta

March Stitch Along Blocks Completed.

Alas.....

...my March blocks won't be finished on time :( ..... although I had every intention of getting them done as I am really enjoying this project it just isn't going to happen....
March became an extremely busy month at work with numerous deadlines having to be met  - one would think that coming home to sew would help but no.... I was too tense to even think about sewing.... weekends became busy as well mainly for family reasons - and so the month of March started to slip away..... on the positive side though, I did start as you can see.....

............ hopefully I should catch up again through April!

Am enjoying seeing what everyone else is up to - very inspiring!

Happy Stitching

March By 1 Day

One more block stitched while tending my parents garage sale on Saturday and the last 2 blocks done last night while watching the Aussie cricketers run it home. A press and a trim today and here are my blocks for March.

I'm a lot happier with my needle turn this month but there's still room for improvement.  Loving all the different colour combinations everyone has. Now to bind my grandson's quilt before starting April blocks.

Missed by ...... that much?

With 1 day to go in March I am conceding I am not going to get there.... but I am making progress and the plan is to be back on track by the end of April! Will just have to try and dodge that whip until then....

As you can see, I have completed all the blanket stitch borders but have some applique to go.
Am loving reading all your posts and seeing your blocks!

And that's.....

.....a wrap for March blocks
Happy stitching,

March blocks completed

My March blocks are completed just in the nick of time ..... it has been a busy month here .... but I am enjoying stitching and making this project ... and all the others look fantastic too !!   Fiona H @ Peaceful Threads

March is made......

It was almost finished last Tuesday.  Only one leaf on one pear left to stitch and I was set to crow from the rooftop that I was done.   It took till Friday to stitch the leaf and till today to take photos... how embarrassing is that!

I would have been done earlier but I caught a bug that laid me out for days.  Humm...  sounds like an excuse but it's true... honest.    I'm still 'off the boil' but hoping to be back in the stitching/blogging saddle tomorrow.  Fingers crossed.

Here are my little blocks.....

and the big ones.....

I love this project!    Have to wait patiently now for the next block to arrive from Aus.... when it comes I'll be ready for it.

Hope you are all enjoying Natures Journey as much as I am.
Keep stitching...
Hugs
Josie

Done !

Here are my March blocks !!

Now I remember why I hate to appliqué points !!!

Going to stand in the naughty corner...

I had high hopes for March, I had all of my blocks prepared and ready to stitch in the first week; I ended up having flu for 2 weeks and couldn't even stitch :( I feel better now and hopefully will get these blocks stitched buy the end of next week. I can then prepare April's and catch up!

Susan Oh2Sew

I'm not finished my blocks for the month - I know that is not "leading by example" but I have had a busy time and some unexpected interruptions of a personal nature.  In all I've been away from home almost as much as at home...

I was able to do the outsides of the blocks - in fact I have enough for at least two months...back in February I tried the blanket stitching ...it was just wasn't me so I'm using chain stitch.  Today when I did get a chance to tackle the pears I tried needle turn - again it wasn't working for me.   I figure making a quilt should be fun & enjoyable and whilst I understand the need to challenge myself occasionally - this is not the time.

So, here is my progress and I will be back with the rest when I can - probably over or after Easter.

This doesn't stop me cracking the whip over the rest of you!!

January's stitchery

Just realised I hadn't posted my January finish which was Anni's free cute download. Cheryl

March blocks

Cutting it fine, but March blocks all done -

March Blocks...in March!

No whips for me this month....my blocks are done, and with a whole day to spare!

Things have been pretty hectic around here, and I must admit I was VERY late making a start on these. Some late night cutting and early morning stitching, and I was soon back on track....thank goodness I stuck with blanket stitch!

Now, to start on April before that month passes by in a blur ;)

Hi Girls !!!

I don't think I'll finish in time.
I wasn't feeling great the last few weeks and

But I'm beginning today on my March blocks!!!
And I'm in good company!!!

Arthur loves to be near me when I'm working
with my fabrics :-)
Will I finish in time????
We'll see!!!

Have a nice day!!!

My February blocks done.

I have got my February blocks done.  And nearly have the March finished  So nearly back on track.  So many distractions with UFOs need to finish.  And so many new things to start.

The fabric is Sweet Serenade by Basic Gray.  I'm loving the Colours. Can't wait to see it all together

Cheers Kez

March Done

Don't know why, but March seems to have gone by quicker than Feb! Anyway they are all done:

A bit behind.

Hello.
I'm impressed about all the nice blocks, and I see how much I'm behind. I get my pattern a few weeks ago, but I get my DMC thread just a couple of days ago. I'm almost finished with the stitching of the first blocks. After Easter holiday I will start applique. And then hopefully catch up slowly.......

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE.

March finish

An early finish!.. (for me)… there is still 2 days to go!

I doggy sat my grand dog this weekend…. she was very enthusiastic about my block photo shoot!
So cute… she kept adding sticks to the pile.
Bring on April!!… I'm really enjoying this journey.

March Complete

Like a few other bloggers, I completed these a week ago but it was just a matter of uploading my phone photos to the computer.  (sorry for the rotated photo - it was fine when I uploaded it - anyone know how to rotate in blogger?)

Now for the next lot .........

Happy Stitching

March is Done

They're finished! My March blocks are finished.

To be honest, I finished them a few days ago, but we've had a busy few days so taking a daylight photo had been what was holding me back from sharing.

Those star flower blocks were a little tricky and my points aren't the pointiest they could be, but I figure once it's all together, they won't be noticeable.

I have enjoyed the stitching. Rather than blanket stitch, I've used back stitch, stem stitch and chain stitch.

Guess what?!? I have my April blocks cut out. Yes, really!
