Yay ..... Finally March Done

Well you can't see half my kitchen table as I have my Natures Journey stuff all over it.  If I left it in the sewing room it would not sit and look at me all day to move me along.

So I have finally finished March and half way there with April

I have come to yet another conclusion me, points and circles do not get along.

Behind Again!

After just sneaking across the line with my February blocks, I've fallen behind.  As life does, it's presented a few challenges - unwell father requiring hospitalisation (he's on the mend again now) and a recalcitrant teenager who would not conform has had to change schools.  On top of that, two of my children qualified for National Age Swimming Championships in Sydney (we are in Queensland).  So school holidays came and went and not a lot on my "to do" list was ticked off!

Before the holidays I managed to prepare all my March Blocks.  I've started sewing them and hope to get those completed by the end of April.

My father is to return to hospital for surgery (knee reconstruction) on 18th May.  If this goes ahead, I will be away with my mother - so there will be some sewing time then.

I'm really enjoying seeing everyone's progress and I'm enjoying the time I have to sit and sew.  It's going to be a beautiful quilt and I know that this stitch-a-long is my one of hope of completing it.

Cheers

March completed.

Here's the March blocks. All trimming will be done when it is time to sew. I suppose that I should say all ironing will be done then too.

April blocks are coming soon.

Mark me off for March!

Better late than never, as they say ..... that's what I'm saying anyway! March blocks finished.

There seem to be quite a few finishes for April already! I have done most of the borders, will make a start on the applique this weekend so I'm not ducking and weaving the whip again at the end of the month.

Am loving seeing all your progress girls.

March Done and Dusted

There's nothing like leaving things to the last minute....well with nearly an hour and a half to spare.

We've just had 10 days away and I managed to finish the blanket stitching for March while we were away.  I even completed a couple of circles towards April - Bonus!

We returned home on Sunday afternoon, and after quickly unpacking it was applique time.  I was able to get them all finished that evening, thank goodness.

Once again, the fabrics were from my tiny scraps.  The darker of the large stars was from a charm square that had come on a jar of home made jam, so lots of different stories to go with it.

Thanks so much Chooky and Susan for keeping us on the straight and narrow.  Your whip cracking is really appreciated, as this is the only way that I will commit to completing a project of this scale.

Chooky, I do hope you find the time to get caught up.  I'd be scared of Susan's whip.

Cheers

March By 1 Day

One more block stitched while tending my parents garage sale on Saturday and the last 2 blocks done last night while watching the Aussie cricketers run it home. A press and a trim today and here are my blocks for March.

I'm a lot happier with my needle turn this month but there's still room for improvement.  Loving all the different colour combinations everyone has. Now to bind my grandson's quilt before starting April blocks.

Missed by ...... that much?

With 1 day to go in March I am conceding I am not going to get there.... but I am making progress and the plan is to be back on track by the end of April! Will just have to try and dodge that whip until then....

As you can see, I have completed all the blanket stitch borders but have some applique to go.
Am loving reading all your posts and seeing your blocks!

Going to stand in the naughty corner...

I had high hopes for March, I had all of my blocks prepared and ready to stitch in the first week; I ended up having flu for 2 weeks and couldn't even stitch :( I feel better now and hopefully will get these blocks stitched buy the end of next week. I can then prepare April's and catch up!

March's blocks

Best show these blocks as March is almost over!

March done!

I actually finished the blocks for March the last week of February, but life has been a bit busy, that's why I haven't been able to post until now.

Not ironed and not cut down to correct size, but that will happen - once all the blocks are done.

My favorite blocks were definetly the pears! I think I could easily make a whole quilt using just this block. Still some wonky corners and edges on some of the other blocks, but I'm taking it as practice.

My other "wisp" (work in slow progress) is also done - on March 1st our little Aurora came to join us!

The blocks for April are prepped and ready, but so far it's a little easier to knit "around" a sleeping baby.

Happy stitching everybody! Spring is finally here, and we're enjoying every second of it. :-)

I'm Still Here!

Despite my good start and my excellent intentions, I'm now way behind. Between parents with medical issues, teenagers with medical issues and some with just bad attitude, the height of the swimming season and co-ordination costumes for a cast of 12 for a comedy based in England during World War 1. (The costumes are just amazing - beautiful ladies' gowns.). Anyway, the month of Fevruary disappeared and we are well into March.

Thank goodness I opted for the BOM option from Anni - hate to think where I'd be without all that help.

Here is my progress so far:

My outlines are done. My appliqué pieces cut. I now have an hour to get some more sewn into, place. Hoping for some more progress as the day goes on. And I'm not looking at all the other bits and pieces that need my attention. Today is Nature's Journey Day.

March BOM has arrived in the mail. Gorgeous blocks once more. Looking forward to catching up,by the end of March. Loving seeing everyone else's posts.

Almost an M, NOPE it's an M

I'm on my last block, and I'm loving it.

Have you all noticed how pointy this months blocks are. Well I've been struggling. With fray, and awkward points.
I decided to move on to the curvier pieces. And the points were getting better.

But after last nights sewing group tip, of using a toothpick. WOW, those little points are losing and I'm winning. After posting on Instagram and Facebook, a few people asked for a video tutorial, my friend Wendy, found a blog step-by-step, hope it helps.

Happy Stitching,
Sonia

PS.
So I decided, well my body decided that it was over the no pain no gain, and it needs a rest and recovery day. I do have Forever Always stitching to do, but that one last point was calling me to finish it. So I did! So please can I have an M?
