Almost there

After seeing Maria's post today, I'd thought I'd try and inspire those like me that are almost there. I'm on the last 2 borders, I'm loving the dimples I'm creating in my hand quilting. I'm working a little every night. My poor Lucy Boston is very jealous.

Back to quilting.....

My top is off to be basted.

So after deciding on that extra border making it a queen-sized quilt, I realised that basting is the only thing I really hate about quilting.... I just detest it, and such a large quilt was so daunting.

After seeing a machine basted Lucy Boston at my sewing group last week... I didn't even know this was a thing. I've just dropped my baby off at the quilters.....to be basted.

So I am another step closer....

AUGUST IS READY:-)

Good evening,

We had a terrible tsunami-like fload storms last week in Budapest turning squares into lakes and streets ro raging rivers. My workplace had been seriously damaged, I was very nervous and shoked for days.  It was relaxing to have this beautiful pattern at home, though all this experience had an effect, it is far not as perfect as I can sew, but well... sewing this was a healing and felt much better and the "scars" are mine, in my heart, on my quilt.

Just two pictures of many, during the fload:

After the fload:

And my center block (without ironing):

Happy sewing!:-)

Finished June, started July:-)

Good evening, dear Ladies,

I managed to finish my June blocks while watching the Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners seasons on youtube.  I do not use red colour in this project, so I have other insects then ladybugs:-)))  I had also started July.  Well, I am a bit frightened how I will manage to sew all these big size center applications in two weeks, I hope I can run faster than Chooky and Susan with their whips in their hands if I fail to complete it:-)))

I hope you all have a nice Sunday afternoon!

Hugs,

Maja

One Day Late

I have finished June's only one day late and  it's my second post this month . Pretty good for me.
Thanks Chooky for setting up the  SAL. It does make me stitch and I am amazed how much I am getting done. I am sure it would be still in the sewing cupboard if I was not doing the SAL.
But you are right it is sometimes hard in the busy lives we all live and we do sometimes get behind.   Perhaps we all should realise how important  "me" time is.  I consider stitching as a little me time..especially when I am caught up.....  Good Luck with it every one ..happy stitching..

Jenny

This is when I am glad I have already cut a heap  of 1 1/2 inch squares and saved  them in a cute little tin.

No cutting required.Yeah!!!

Catching up and working hard

I am a bit behind, even after a wonderful catch up with Chooky in April, who was whip cracking. My life has been taken over by my health. Knee pain has resulted in finding out that I need double knee replacement so for the past three weeks and the next five weeks I'm undergoing Prehab intensive muscle development, 3 hours a day of combined physio and hydrotherapy. So on Tuesday this week I needed a well deserved rest day and dragged out my box and sorted myself out..  Zip log bags became my friend, so I hope now I'll catch up - april is almost done

Tuesday, May 26, 2015

Well, it's a finish even if it is late...

I'm behind, and I'm embarrassed about it, but I am still working on my projects.  I decided today that I wanted to at least have the January project completely finished.

I used the pillow pattern from Gail Pan's book for the pillow.  I was dodging rain today and unfortunately you can't see the quilting.  I love it, and I know it will be so fun to use this upcoming holiday season.  Now I'm back to work on my applique.  Happy Stitching!!  --Kristen

Holiday Stitching

Hi ladies hope you all enjoyed Easter.
The Easter break has given me some time to catch up. I have now finished March and cut out all of April's and have finished one block from April. Now I feel like I can sew and enjoy it instead of speeding to catch up and feel the pressure.  Everyone has been doing such lovely and different work. I love looking at all the posts.

I really like the pears. I have decided to all the circles in the same colour thread. DMC 3768. Its a steel blue colour. May be I will do the next one before bed.  Take Care everyone..

Happy Stitching

Jenny

April blocks are ready

Dear Girls,

How are you doing?
I have to admit it is only now that I found the true colour scheme I feel ok and "home".  I am much-much happier with the April blocks!:-) I chose these tones for March, too, and I will remake the February blocks as soon as possible:-)

My home is fifty shades of white, I was longing to put some white in my Natures Journey, too:-)

I had also put some lace onto the big dragonfly's upper wing, tiny eyes for the tiny bees and stuffed the petals of the big flowers to pop them out.

I wish you beautiful Sunday afternoon!:-)
Big hugs,

March is completed:-)

Good evening,

I have finished the blocks for March in March!

You may find the purple traces of my trick pen (needs 2-3 more days to evaporate).  Sorry for the not-so-perfect-photo, I took it now in the evening, because patience has never been my virtue to wait for tomorrow morning's nice daylight;-)

How are you doing? I am gardening as much as I can, I am so happy spring is here.

Have a nice evening, ladies, happy stitching!:-)

Hugs,

Maja

Almost an M, NOPE it's an M

I'm on my last block, and I'm loving it.

Have you all noticed how pointy this months blocks are. Well I've been struggling. With fray, and awkward points.
I decided to move on to the curvier pieces. And the points were getting better.

But after last nights sewing group tip, of using a toothpick. WOW, those little points are losing and I'm winning. After posting on Instagram and Facebook, a few people asked for a video tutorial, my friend Wendy, found a blog step-by-step, hope it helps.

Happy Stitching,
Sonia

PS.
So I decided, well my body decided that it was over the no pain no gain, and it needs a rest and recovery day. I do have Forever Always stitching to do, but that one last point was calling me to finish it. So I did! So please can I have an M?

January's Finish

I did get my stitching finished on January 31, never mind that it was at approximately 11:59 p.m.  :)  I really enjoyed working on this, of course who doesn't enjoy hand work on a cold, snowy winter's night. I'm still waiting for my book to arrive, and I can't wait to get started!

February Part Completed

Good afternoon,

how are you doing?  It is freezing cold in my country, so it feels great and humble to sit home and sew this lovely quilt of Anni.   I had finished Part One while watching some tv shows in the background on youtube:-)

Have a nice evening!

Hugs,

Just Finished

Well I made it with 58 minutes to go...... I really enjoyed sewing today.  I have not spent a day sewing  for a while.... Wasn't sure what to make my stitchery into. Went for a small table runner. I found some star templates so that gave me a little inspiration.

All finished I used some of Lynette Anderson's Christmas  fabrics to complement an Anni Downs stitchery. Two designers I really like.

Start and a Finish - FlowerandLinen

So I initially thought I would make a candle mat but I then changed my mind to a little wall hanging.

I was really happy with it as it was done using scraps. Scraps of thread, batting pieces sewn together, left over strips from my Tis the Season quilt, and left over binding. Oh and two bits of backing fabric sewn together.

I went through a large part of my stash and decided on a pink and green theme for  my Nature's Journey quilt - relatively in tune with natural colours. (or so I think now).

My intention is to incorporate these beautiful scraps (below), given to me by Aunty. Such delicate and pretty fabrics. She is a gifted sewer and wonderful person. She has lived alone in the country for ten years and I periodically send her photos of my projects with an explanation on the back of the photographs. Sadly she has just gone in to palliative care the other day.

So more fabric in the tub to choose from.

Hoping to prep my first couple of blocks tonight.

Happy Stitching All

Fabric ideas for 2015 SAL

Hello Girls,

These new fabrics came home with me the other day, they are competing for the winning circle of fabrics for the SAL:-)  I did not find enough very light blue fabrics, so I may change the whole concept of colours, I will see, first I will combine these newcomers with my 'old' stash:-)

I signed up for a skill-building Craftsy class about free-form techniques with the gorgeous Cindy Needham:
http://www.craftsy.com/class/design-it-quilt-it-free-form-techniques/121

My pattern is traveling now with the holy post, I hope it will arrive in a week or so!:-)

Have a nice evening!

Introduction from Hungary

Dear Ladies,

This is my first post here and my first SAL with Chookyblue and Susan!

My name is Maja, I am from Budapest, capital of Hungary, Mid-Eastern Europe.  I have been around this SAL blog for years, but never arrived in time to be able to sign up, but this new year's eve, I kept my wand at the ready;-)

I am a cross stitch designer, I blog at www.thesnowflowerdiaries.blogspot.hu  I began this guilty pleasure only in 2011, but I have been sewing since childhood, I am also addicted to fabrics, threads, scissors and buttons, chocolate and hooked nosed Severus Snape:-)

I have three small children I love very much and a law office.

I would not dare to risk the feeling of Chookyblue's whip on my poor back months before the bikini season hits Europe, so I had finished the homework for January, stitching the free pattern from Anni Downs with good, old DMC am sewing a wallhanging.

I love Anni's works and style, I am so happy to be here with you!:-) I had ordered my pattern and going to a secret fabric hunt on Tuesday, woohoo:-)

Greetings from Hungary,
