you'll have to take my word for it but I got all the blocks done I too with me and I had heaps of waiting time today so got everything with me done.............I need to take pics so hopefully tomorrow I can show you the progress...........

Trying to catch up..........

I am on holidays for 2 weeks and can feel Chooky behind me with her whip!!!....ouch!!!!!!!

 

So I need to get moving.....I've been very busy........

 

So here it is all layed out, my Some Kind of Wonderful quilt in progress,

Not all the appliques are complete.........

...............notice the tree!!!......boy those flowers are fiddly to needleturn, so I seem to have left them for now and moved onto something speedier!!!!........lol........

I have a purse for shopping instead of chocolates, and wine bottle and glass instead of a chair, oh and shells for the beach in the foreground instead of a cat!!!!.....just a few altered blocks to make it more personal...........I'll take some close-ups soon, but need to move them to a better light for that.........

Visitors this weekend so must move it all shortly.......

 Take care everyone, and keep those fingers busy, Chooky is counting down the days now.....yikes!!

A Little Progress...

Breaking blog silence to report that there has been some progress...not a lot but I seem to have managed to get SKoW restarted...working out just what colours I wanted to use for the stitchery portions and ordering skeins of the colours I was missing was a good start...
 
At retreat on the weekend stitchery bits were stitched on...

 The book...having received Marian's latest book during the week I chose this block first... yes I know the book is backwards, not all languages write/read left to right and the fact that English does I'm ignoring!

The yellow of the floss really doesn't photograph but it is there!

And yesterday at sewing group...

 

Chosen for the fact it has one word and therefore was quick to get done!...

 Hippy Dippy Jeans...Peace Man!...

The stitchery on another one is underway...what can it be???...you'll have to wait and see...

Trying to avoid the Whip!

In the hope to avoid Chooky's whip I would like to show you

 some progress on my SKOW Stitchalong quilt..... 

 I am up to the collumns at the moment.....

So I needed some 2 inch squares cut.....

 I then layed my first row on the kitchen bench and set

 about arranging the squares and fabric strips which was much

 more time consuming than I thought it would be.....

 After the collumn was made I  stitched it in between row 1 and 2.....

 This is my progress so far......

 It was tricky to photograph but I think you can get the idea....

Still a work in progress.......

I hope to get some more done soon.....

The Rows are All Done!

Hello!  :)

I did it! I finished the last 2 rows! Yea! Here they are . . .

Sorry but the pictures aren't too great as it was late and dark.  :(  I took some other close-up pictures to show more of the details. Here's the top . . .

Sewing Block

There is soooo much more to this block than the others. It is taking longer than I thought. It is also showing up the fact that I cannot applique a straight line to save myself.  I am trying to not unpick, no time, that whip is out and the sleep count is below 50!

Last Week's blocks

These are the blocks that I finished last week. I've 3 more that I've almost finished which leaves me 4 left to make. I enjoyed making these. I made a windmill block instead of the wooden chair block.

Hope everybody else is finding some time to put a few stitches in.

I need to find some time to cut the tiny blocks for piecing...........the strips are cut.........

have some waiting time tomorrow so hopefully you will see another block or several done..........

Progress

The blocks are done and now I am up to the little squares for the last row and half that I have to do.........I aim to have the quilt top completed by the end of the week.......please keep me accountable!

Another block closer,i really enjoyed making the chocolate block and  making the little satin stitched cherry on top,very pleased with this block,now onto the next one.

A finish for me

I am pleased to say that after a long weekend in front of my machine,

with the help of a glass of wine or two and

some time in front of the TV today finishing off the binding, 

my version of this one is now finished.

And already up on the wall!

Thank you Chookyblue. I don't think I would have made this one

if it wasn't for this wonderful group of inspiring ladies.

I now have an empty "Project Box" so I am looking forward to 

see what is next :o)

Some more progress

For the last week or two I have been working on my SKOW quilt, just a bit here and there, making not very much progress.  So I signed up for last night's FNSI as an incentive and really got stuck in. I managed to sew on the applique pieces on quite a few blocks and have traced the wording on ready for stitching.

These are the blocks I worked on last night.

I only got part way through sewing on the best friends, my finger just couldn't take any more stabs with the needle!

I love how this project is coming along now that I am back into it.  Many thanks to Chookyblue for the encouragement along the way, and the daily countdown which has really kicked my butt into gear.

Off to the Quilter's and a decision

 Well ladies its together and visiting with my quilting friend!

Should be back home ready for the binding early next week!!!

And I have made a decision to go ahead with the next SAL project...

its only small, how long can it take? lol

I'm aiming for a Christmas finish, wish me luck!!

Cutting & A Little Piecing FINALLY!

Hello!  :)

I finally got back to working on my SKOW quilt! Yea! I had all the blocks appliqued and stitched. I finally sat down and trimmed them all to size.

While I was cutting them down to size I realized that my "sewing" block was missing something.

I had forgotten to add the 3 mini quilt blocks at the bottom of the block. So I got the fabrics cut and sewed them together. Now my "sewing" block is complete!  :)

Next I finally cut most of the fabric for the remainder of the quilt. I say 'most' because I'm going to do a little something different with the outer borders.  ;)  I also still need to cut the binding. Here are the strips and blocks . . .

I'm hoping to start sewing them all together with those appliqued blocks tonight. Wish me luck!  :)
