At the moment I have a sick little girl on my lap. Her temperature is 39 degrees C, and she refuses to have any medicine to reduce it. She's been whiney and unbelievably clingy all day - I should have known she was unwell. Instead I just got annoyed. Now who's feeling stink!
Now to the SAL. Well, I haven't finished yet I'm afraid. And I must confess that it won't be completed before the end of the year. Please don't remove me from the blog though Chookyblue - I am still working away at it when I can. I started cutting the strips yesterday, so I am getting there, albeit very slowly.
i must go and tend to my little angel. It's 9.30pm and I'm sweating like crazy under her hot little body. I think it's going to be a long night. Yay.
Best wishes to everyone.

I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date!
Just thought I had better let you know where I'm at with this SAL. Unfortunately I have not met the deadline, even though I set myself a goal at the beginning of September to get back on track and finish on time. My blocks are sitting on the coffee table waiting for me to do the back stitching. Once I get going it really shouldn't take all that long, so I will set myself a new deadline - I will have the top done by Christmas at the very latest. I have no idea what to do with it after that, as I've never made a quilt before, and I don't know who I would get to do the quilting. But that is another chapter. One thing at a time. First of all I need to buy another pair of magnifying glasses, because I'm stuffed without them! Then watch me go! I owe it to myself, Chookyblue and everyone who has participated in this SAL to pull my finger out and get this quilt finished. And I will - promise!!
Congratulations to all the finishers, and all the best to those of us who still have WIPs. We can do it!

Some more progress
For the last week or two I have been working on my SKOW quilt, just a bit here and there, making not very much progress. So I signed up for last night's FNSI as an incentive and really got stuck in. I managed to sew on the applique pieces on quite a few blocks and have traced the wording on ready for stitching.
These are the blocks I worked on last night.
I only got part way through sewing on the best friends, my finger just couldn't take any more stabs with the needle!
I love how this project is coming along now that I am back into it. Many thanks to Chookyblue for the encouragement along the way, and the daily countdown which has really kicked my butt into gear.

Ouch! That whip hurts!
Hi everyone.
It's been a loooooong time since I posted here. Purely out of shame, due to my lack of effort on the SAL front. But I have made some progress and have a photo to prove it. I took this immediately after Chooky's previous email reminding us to pull our fingers out.
None of these blocks are completed as you can see - some pieces are sewn on but none of the stitching has been done yet. Since this photo was taken, I have done the best friends, book and shoes blocks. I also have all my freezer paper shapes cut out ready for the remaining blocks, I just need to decide which fabrics to use for which piece. I haven't cut out any strips or squares yet, I'm nervous about it for some reason - I guess I'm worried I'm going to make the quilt look really crap if I do it all wrong.
Anyway, thanks Chookyblue for cracking that whip - you're quite the motivator!! I am so looking forward to being able to show you all my finished quilt, and will hopefully not be too far behind on the deadline. Best of luck to everyone else still working away at it, and congratulations to those who have already completed their masterpieces.
Finally, I just have to show you all a photo of the reason (or my excuse, anyway!) why I am not keeping up to date. Meet the cause of my sleepless nights (yes, STILL!),and of my inability to focus on anything else for more than two minutes.
On that note, see ya!
