Starting my Gardener's Journal

Today, I got some fabric that I bid on over at The Cottage on the Hill, fabric is called Charlevoix.  This is not my usual colours and such but seeing how I am doing a Gardener's Quilt what better way then to have some Spring colours and such.
I am not sure what to start with, the stitchery or the blocks!!  In the book do you use the thread colours or did you do a solid colour throughout?

Hey Shauna..........your getting into it.........start with block G it is good to stitch and piece and you can see how things are looking then........nice fabrics....I cut all my fabrics at the start and popped what I needed for each block into a snap lock bag..........only had to cut the "extra" borders etc then.........go for it........

I used the thread colours in the book. Very pretty. Good luck. It is such fun to make and to have all the support from the group.!

I chose a set of colours to match my fabrics and used them throughout. Love your fabrics!

I used the different colors as per the book for my threads...some used just blue or just red....I cut several of each size of piece before I started but found myself going and choosing others as I sewed the blocks...I started with a sampler pack but then pulled out some scraps from other projects to make some of the tiny squares...I advise you to cut out quite a lot of those in the beginning. They are a pain but as you are doing each block as you go, not too bad...I'm happy you've decided to do the project. We'll be watching for your first block...I'm quilting mine right now. I chose to quilt in the ditch so as not to quilt inside the stitchery blocks...
