Okay I'm in... thought I wouldn't start this 2nd SAL because I haven't finished the GJ but the pressure was too much so when I spotted the little book with the little stitcheries in it I couldn't resist buying it and some fabric to stitch them on knowing this would be a quick project.... I had planned to use the red thread suggested in the Tis the Season book but after reading your posts I'm now thinking maybe varigated thread or hand-dyed and I'm not making any decisions about which fabric until I finish the embroideries so I better go and trace the patterns, happy stitching everyone, Sheryl.

OMG how the world changes in seconds..............feeling for our friends in NZ............we have several in our SAL group from NZ.............Shiree, Deb (in the worst area - ok), Nicky, Miche'le and I am not sure if we have anymore in our new girls. The footage on  the news is terrible.

i have the book, the threads and many red fabrics, i have not yet decided which ones i'm going to use. i will probably do it when the first little block is stitched.

Hello from the Hills!

I am so excited to be a part of this SAL. Of course, my book won't be here for another couple of weeks, so I will be just a bit behind all of you. I don't even have fabric or thread picked out yet. So, I thought I would tell you a couple of things about me. (I can't help it...I LOVE blogging.)

1) Did I mention that I love blogging? Come and say hello to me RIGHT HERE

2) I have three kids that are very spread out in age. 21 years, 13 years, 14 months. The 14 month old hijacks my blog and writes his adventures every once in a while. He also is constantly fighting me for my thread.

(Just in case you think I treat my thread this badly; this is my 'bad' thread box. I inherited a bunch that was all a mess but I keep it around for emergencies. And for Stephen.)

3) Although the name "Tonya" is over on the sidebar I really am known around blogland as "Hillbilly". There is another Tonya that is quite popular so it is easier for me to be "Hillbilly"

4) I know most of you don't live in the States, so I need to tell you that a Hillbilly and a Redneck are NOT the same thing. When you hear the term "Redneck" ....think "GROSS". When you hear "Hillbilly" think...well...I don't know...very nice hill folks!

5) I haven't been stitching very long but I am completely head over heels in love with it. I have a bunch of free BOM's on my sidebar that I am trying to work through, and I am doing this SAL as well as the Vignette one. I also have a current project that I am working on for a little girl with cancer. Here is a sneak photo of it:

Well, I guess that is enough about me. I really look forward to getting to know each and every one of you!

I promise, my other posts won't be so 'wordy'.

But, I couldn't just show you nothing and since I had nothing for the SAL I had to show you something.

for my Tis the Season book to arrive, I'm thinking about using green colours for my fabric choice, the main reason for that is the wall where I intend to hang my quilt is RED and if I make a red toned quilt it will get a bit lost.  I don't have any photos to put up yet (don't think a photo of some weaveline would be very interesting lol).  I am really looking forward to this SAL, it is the first one I have participated in and I recognise a few bloggers names here already (waves) so I'm sure it will be a great incentive to finish.

Hello my Dear Stitching Friends

My name is Satu
and I live in FINLAND. YES, in the same country, where Santa Claus lives;)
Atleast we, finnish people thought so...
I wrote a letter last Christmas to SC and wished Tis the Season - booklet as a present.
And I got!;)

I did an experiment stitching with Noël. It's Atalie's hand-dyed embroidery thread. It looked nice... so I choosed the fabrics according by it.
My fabrics are - mainly - from Glace, which is Moda's 3 sisters range. There is also two brown fabrics from 'Folklorique' by Fig Tree Quilts. Cream fabric for the stitcheries is also Moda 3-sisters... but I don't remember the range now...

So I'm quite ready for a new challenge

I'm a little confused about the yardage for Tis the Season....Can someone help me? Will fat quarters be big enough to get the pieces out of? I'm in the USA and we don't buy fabric in metric measurements.

Hi everyone, I am excited to be a part of this SAL - Tis The Season. I have sorted out some reds and such from my stash and I intend to only use what is in my stash too and I am using white squares for the little stitchery blocks.
No doubt I will find more later but these are ones I quickly found....

I will trace out a few of the blocks and take them with me to Brissie to stitch up there when us Gumnutters have our sit and sew times. Although I dont think we will get too many of those times in. Not long now until I will be winging my way to Brissie....Oh I am getting excited!
I am excited to be a part of this lovely group and I just hope I keep up with everyone - I think I will *grin*

A Gardener's Journal Quilting

I have just finished stippling the middle of my quilt.  There are a few flowers quilted in too.

Ready for some stitching

Can't wait to start, picked my fabric - a honey bun of Glace by Moda, DMC stranded cottons 3857 to 3864, pattern from The Stitcher's Cupboard. Local for me so the pattern came postage free in fact delivered to the door, hows that for great service.

I've picked a simple white on white for the stitcheries, the pattern is hearts and stars. This afternoon I am going to start to draw the patterns onto it.

Block H Finished

Below is block H which I completed to-day. This is number 5 so four more blocks to go. I have traced all the remaining stitcheries onto my background fabric so I know just how much I have left to do. It's a bit daunting but I guess I'm up for the challenge. Thanks for all your encouragement and comments on my posts.

I am looking forward to also stitching 'Tis The Season' blocks as well when it starts in March. I have the book and the background fabric but have yet to purchase the rest of the fabric needed.

Well, that's all from me for now. I love all the quilts that have been finished and hopefully, I will be able to join that group in the not too distant future.

WAITING IS HARD

I have been looking at the fabrics that other TSL sewing sisters are using and I am impressed they look lovely and I didn`t even think to go green ( no pun intended). I have chosen to use the traditional red to do mine and I am finding it hard waiting to start but i do look at the book and my fabrics everyday.
