What a great effort everyone - some gorgeous centre blocks being posted!
I have done most of my block but it's not happening tonight - maybe over the weekend....
Just one flower to stitch - flying critters to cut and add and the border....as I said MAYBE over the weekend.
I will update the side bar over the weekend in case you are finished and I have commented and you are feeling overlooked!!!
1st SAL.....Peg, Dale and I committed to stitching Anni Downs - A Gardener's Journal in March. I blogged about this on my blog thinking maybe one or 2 others may join us and lots of girls indicated an interest so I decided to start this blog where we can all encourage each other to meet the goals set along the way....March 2010 -March 2011...........
2nd SAL ......well so many of the girls wanted to continue on with another project and some new girls joined us and now approx 91 girls are stitching Natalie Bird's Tis the Season. March to Sept 2011...............
3rd SAL....many girls want to stick with the SAL so now we have moved onto Anni Downs Some Kind of Wonderful - My Favourite Things Quilt.......Oct 2011-Oct 2012.........
Where are we now.....
4th SAL 2013...is numerous smaller projects from the previous 2 books Tis the Season and Some Kind of Wonderful plus some projects from Red Home by Natalie Bird approx 60 ladies stitching together.........

5th SAL 2015..........inspired to continue we are doing another quilt project.....Anni Downs newest quilt Natures Journey.....
6th SAL 2017.............A Holly Cottage Christmas by Michelle Ridgway.......once again the pattern is in an affordable book so it is easy for everyone to join in...........and you can raid your stash for the fabrics........or lash out and buy a the whole lot........this SAL will be run by Fiona aka Bubz Rugz and Raewyn........

July Done and Dusted
.....And completed with a day to spare....for a change.
I really enjoyed playing with this block. Firstly piecing the background and making the most of the toile fabric.
Then it was time to sit and do the applique. I even tidied up my sewing table.
And here we are, all done.
I'm very happy with the way it has turned out and am loving seeing the many other versions that have been completed, especially the bright version.
Now I have to decide how I will attach the diamonds on the next border. Will I use blanket stitch or will I have to bite the bullet and do some needle turn? Decisions, decisions......
Thanks Chooky and Susan as always for keeping me accountable.
Cheers
Janice

The applique actually took longer than I had expected. Once again I had to use some fabric from my stash, as my little scrap bag didn't have any decent sized pieces left. There are still a few I can cut squares out of for the next borders.

Decisions made - August on the way!!!
Well I bit the bullet and there is no turning back now. I was leaning toward orange so followed my heart!!
Before I sewed it altogether.
All of the diamonds cut out ready to be basted and sewn on.
Adding the peeper, borders and diamonds has changed the look of the middle block completely.
It all sits well with me now so I am a happy sewer!! I have started cutting the 2" blocks for the next border - fun time starts tomorrow sewing them together.
Happy Stitching Everyone!!!
Phew... made it....
What a lot of work in this block.... with a bit of unpicking and going back to fix things (like missing ladybug heads) I got this done last night...
As you can see my large flowers are not to the pattern, I fussy cut flowers from the fabrics I am using (thanks Chookyblue for the idea)
No more me being chased with that whip!! ... till the next time that is
Have a great weekend everyone....

Have a great weekend everyone....
maybe just a little 'whip' for me...
...oh boy, I just realized that i have not given my ladybug legs and a head...further more I still need to stitch around the hexie and the circle...slacking I know! But since I have met Chooky and Susan, maybe they will go a little easier on me! LOL
Oh and I have a few things backwards on my centre block but I thought I would leave them like that as I did stitch this on my trip and there are a few things backwards (to us anyways) in Australia...like driving on the 'other' side of the road...your half moon is on the bottom, ours is on its side...and if you have never noticed...your toilets swirl the other way too! So that is how I have justified my 'backward' pieces!

Work in progress...
I had to repair two Renaissance costumes for my Renaissance dance ensemble and couldn't finish this month's block yet. I don't think I'll be able to finish in due time. We'll have two more performances today and on sunday. I've been quite busy this month! :)
July Centre Block
Well I've been stitching, stitching and more stitching. The centre block was quite deceiving in how big it was -
But it's finished. I've opted not to put the little hexagon and circle in - I loved it how it was and I didn't think it needed it - sorry Anni. But loved this centre block. I havn't added the little peeper yet because, sob, sob my centre block is half an inch smaller than it's supposed to be despite using a 1/4" foot, so I'm going to have to add a small border instead to make it the right size. Never mind - small hiccup

Made the Middle
Well I have finished and I am really pleased.
I stitched some with Chooky on Sunday night and some with my friends Gail and Sheena tonight and now it is ready.
I have deliberately not sewn on the flower pot yet because I am not sure which will look best. It will be the last thing I stitch. I think then , I will get the best match as it will be a focal point of the quilt.
Lea " Fairy Floss Stitches" and I picked the blue but now I am not sure, may be the pink or something completely different... what do you think?
Happy sewing everyone....

Best of intentions
Oops, I had put pressure on myself, felt the whippings, and rushed out of the gates this month looking for a double J.
But alas with a huge market month, that's including the Ag Expo in Nyngan this coming weekend my sewing hours have been consumed with stock - so I'm prepped but not completed

That's a mark for me please!
Wow, was this a lot of appliqué!
I changed the Vase, from a pale green to a darker floral brown. The green seemed to fade into the background too much,So I settled on a darker fabric to pull it altogether.
My March blocks,,✔✔
Sorry had them done but forgot to take the photo..
Hope you're relaxing Chooky Blue...
Weather a bit blustery today . Good day to sit and do more sorting and stitching ..
Having fun with fabric, fire going and cuppa on hand...
Big hugs to you all

Keeping up.
Hello my friends,
I am keeping up, which I am so pleased as my health has not been great.
This is my background fabric joined together for centre panel.
I have spent some time with my fabrics.
Then I fussy cut a few to get the right balance.
At the start of this quilt I cut my
peek a boo border,a border and binding from the same fabric.
A close up of a few.
The butterfly has the same wings as before.
Lady bird in different fabric this time.
A dragon-fly showing her colours.
The birds remind me of the fantails
that fly around here.
My finished centre with peek a boo frame.
I am looking at fabric to cut for the next border,
so should be ready for next month.
Happy Stitching,
Clare.
July is done
July is done. It isn't wavy just looks that was as I should've pressed it again. Just too happy to have it done that i took a photo straight away. :) I didn't want to add the extra little pieces Anni has on her centre block
Happy Stitching

JULY DONE.... now for some decisions to be made!!
I have had the July centre block done for over a week now and I am still no closer as to how I am going to put the quilt together!!
Here they all are in their colourful glory. I favour the purple for the peeper border but then I look at the orange and I am rather taken with that as well!!! And I am unsure about the diamonds, and whether I will do the next border of squares in the spotted backgrounds or go all out and use the brights.
Some serious thinking and fiddling about ahead I think!
July is Finished
Well this month I stuck to my guns and did a teeny little bit on the block most days until I was finished ahead of time ? Can you believe it? I can't either LOL. AND what's more is that I have cut all of the pieces out for the next 2 months - Go Me !!
Hope you are all having fun with this block.
Hugs - Fee x

Nine Days left . .
It's the Assistant Whip Cracker here and I have just realised there are only 9 days left to get your July block done - that is only one weekend - for those long suffering "paid" workers - so, girls - how about it??? Can we get a 50% return??? - we are at about 10% now...and we only have a few months left to "catch up".
You will see Chookyblue has been commenting - but she's taking it a bit easy this month and is relying on me to get some results - so please help me out!!!
Will this help???
