December Blocks Progress

I only started on my blocks a few days ago, but as I am doing the blanket stitch on the machine it has come together quite quickly...I have given myself a deadline to finish December blocks before the end of the week.

the suit case is one of my favourites

the international tag I blanket stitched a little further outside the tag so I could see the stitching more...wished I had also done it with the others as I quite like the effect

I will also add a button later instead of stitching one on

I only have the words to do in backstitch on the jeans and tea cup and then I can start piecing together.

Hope to be back soon with my finished December blocks

Making a Start

For the first time I have joined in Chookyblue’s Stitch-a-Long.  I’ll be doing my appliqué using blanket stitch on the machine, otherwise it would never get finished.

Firstly, I found my fabrics and a rather cute box to use to store the project in.

The creams came mainly from the stash, but I cheated and visited Anni’s shop to buy the coloured fabrics.

Nothing more happened until Boxing Day when I finally made a start. I cut all the appliqué block backgrounds, traced the pieces onto vliesofix and cut whisperweft until I ran out of both and then stitched until I needed more matching threads.

Now that I’ve been to the shops, I spent all day yesterday  working on the quilt, without doing a stitch.  I do have all the appliqué blocks prepared to just stitch and have enough little squares and strips cut to keep me going for a while.

At least the first block is now completed.  Hopefully, I’ll be caught up by the end of January.

I’ve really enjoyed playing with all the blocks and can’t wait to have some more finished.

Cheers

Janice

December Blocks Finished

I've been on holidays and have enjoyed stitching the first few blocks of the SAL-SKOW.

Does anyone else thing these look more like Ice-Creams?
I love these jeans

I've run out of some supplies, so off to find a shop open today and finish the other blocks

December Blocks

Three blocks finished and two to go.  Promise to be up-to-date soon.  Don't want that whip cracking at me. This is such a fun quilt to stitch.  I have opted for hand blanket stitch as needle turn is new to me and I love the look of hand blanket stitch.  Sorry the date is wrong on my camera.  It should be January 1, 2012 obviously.

Patty Cakes

Singing in the rain

Cup of Tea - ooh the needle is still in the block.

Off to more stitching.  Happy New Year to everyone.

December blocks .....

Happy New Year to all
may your 2012 have plenty of
Some Kind of Wonderful

I have had so much fun stitching these blocks ....

The piecing is fun too especially since I had managed to cut all the strips and blocks

all ready and waiting in their little boxes

I even managed to piece the little patchwork blocks... so they don't get lost
