Backing.....

My quilt top has now been complete now for a few weeks and I am really struggling to find a fabric that I like to put on the back. My local fabric shop has nothing nice & I have been searching the net.
I have found one this morning that I think will be OK, but I am little worried about the colour and how it will go with my binding. So I was wondering if any of you have been disappointed with the colours of fabric that you have brought online?
My quilting fairy can't fit me in until the new year, but has said that she will call if a spot becomes available. So I would like to be prepared just in case.

Oh what to do..............................

This is what I do- I ask the online store if the fabric I am considering is the color of or would blend with a line I know- even if you haven't bought fabric in a while-go to the brick and mortar find fabric(s) from a well known company that has the color you are looking for to use as a comparison. All the info you need is on the end of the bolt. The online has always been able to advise me correctly with this information. Good luck I too think the back fabric needs to help the entire quilt and is worth putting thought into as you have invested so much effort in the top.

Very good information in the comment above.
I just wanted to tell you that I have ordered from Connecting Threads online for several years and have never been disappointed.
I usually try to choose a fabric which has a light colored background so that my stitching mistakes will not be too visible. I've not had a quilt quilted professionally and in that case, the background would not be a problem. I also try to choose something that does not distract from the top which is the showpiece. For this quilt I chose a solid gold fabric for the back and am leaning toward a darker gold print for the binding.
