It's been a while
Just made it!!!!!!
Just love, love, love the quilts . . .
I have been reading your posts and just so admire the time and effort you have all put into your SKOW quilts - they are absolutely beautiful and a real credit to one and all - congratulations
I felt the whip cracking from Chookyblue (ouch, ouch) but just knew I couldn't deliver, so unfortunately, I have pulled out of the SKOW as I really bit off more than I could chew this past year.
But for me all is not lost as I will be turning my eleven completed blocks into table runner and napkins. When completed I will post some pics.
Again, congratulations and I look forward to seeing other finished quilts. Cheers, SuziQ
Ooooh...I might even make the Ausie deadline too!
I am so excited...I took my quilt to my 'long arm fairy' on Thursday past and just got it back today! Wow...that was fast. I am so happy with how she quilted it. Basically a vine of lazy daisies in the stripping and pieced block areas. No quilting other than an outline within my appliqued blocks. I think it looks good although she though maybe we should do a few little loop-de-doos with in the blocks. Anyways, I am so excited to have it back in record time...now it's all up to me to get that binding on within the hours left. The window is closing...yikes! Chooky this is so much fun...not only the making of the quilt but being part of a lovely group of ladies from all over the world...although the Ausies do dominate, dont they?! Well I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of this group for a second year. I am hoping and praying there will be a third. Off to prep my binding now.
Finished!!!!
I have also added the label and used one of Anni's label patches. It matches the quilt perfectly.
I have just made the deadline for the Stitch-a-long! Whew! What a relief!
Done and Dusted!
I have finished !
So here it is:
This is the first time that I have done any needle turn on a large scale and also the first time that I have attempted Free Motion Quilting on a quilt. To say Im rather pleased with myself is an understatement!
Whats your favourite mag???
I do love Homespun and Quilters Companion

I'm sorry that I don't know much English to comment your works and your quilts, congratulations to all for your spectacular works.
I decided to make an label with the country that was my inspiration and motivation, Australia and my own, Portugal.
However, I can only finish my quilt in November because I don't have padding.

MY QUILT IS FINISHED
Tah-dah! My top is done.
I thought I would still be madly sewing on Wednesday but I actually finished my top Friday night. I’d lost the patch that goes over the sewing block so I had started making it again, I hand pieced all these sections so that was going to add some time. Anyway, decided to have another search, & found it, yay, so I was able to get it all together. I was actually surprised at how big the top is, I just love it! Note the sun was out when I went out to photograph my top but by the time I prised ds off his laptop the sun had gone.
I also stumbled towards the end as I wanted to replace the butterfly block but couldn’t decide what to put. I then remembered a freebie block offered by Bustle & Sew last year so I dug it out, resized it, & voila! I do love the seaside, it somehow makes me calm, lol, I should live there in that case!!!!!
I have really enjoyed working with everyone on this quilt through the year. I don’t sew with anybody so you are all my quilt group. I’ve loved looking at everyone’s work & seeing how you have interpreted the blocks & the great range of colours you’ve all chosen. I’ve certainly been inspired by the work of others & I would never had got this far without the group. I really hope Chooky decides to launch another quilt for us all to work on.
Thank you Chooky for all the encouragement & really very gentle whip cracking. The countdown of days in emails has been invaluable these past few weeks.
I can’t wait to choose some backing, I’ll be checking my stash today, so I can get it layered & start quilting. I also plan to add buttons & beads to some of the blocks, buttons for the centre of flowers & beads for the seagulls eye & the heads of the pins in the pin cushion. There is also a string of bunting to go on my caravan. Maybe this time next year it will all be finished. :-)

My Favourite Things...finished!
...here is my finished Some Kind of Wonderful quilt! I decided to go with a scrappy binding, both to add a bit more colour to my quilt, and to use up some more of my beautiful Strawberry Fields fabric :)
I quilted straight lines on either side of the seam lines of the sashings, and just inside the completed stitchery blocks.
I had considered adding stippling to the pieced blocks, but time (and patience LOL) wasn't on my side...I can always add it later if I get the urge (highly unlikely).
The finished quilt doesn't have an official home yet, but my youngest daughter seems to think it looks kinda perfect on her bed...
...she may have a point! Here is the full view...
...held up by very very tall son...he comes in handy sometimes :) I used some of my leftover squares to make a quilt label for the back...
...and with that, My Favourite Things is officially finished! WOOOHOOOOO!
So ...how are you going with yours? Personally, I would LOVE to take part in another stitch-a-long, but the word is that there won't be another one unless we see some more tops finished very very soon. Can you see me begging? PLEASE PLEASE put in a BIG effort over the next few days...I know you can do it!

Yay - finished my top!
I want to say a big thank you to Chooky and Susan for all of the whip cracking and encouragement - without it I think my blocks would still be a WIP! I do hope there will be another stitch a long, I've really enjoyed making this quilt and am thrilled to have the top finished.
